Did you just say "retro futuristic"? Listen to yourself for gods sake.

  6. Richard Servello on November 11, 2019 at 9:57 pm

That "upgradeable" dell is so funny…they aren’t producing upgradeable parts..they are just using the same layout as all custom build laptops. I can replace anything on my Origin…..but where am I gonna get a new graphics card? Can’t just buy them easily…so it’s ebay…which is questionable at best.

I thought the ROG was hokey at first…then I dug deeper and it’s REALLY cool. Like my Origin…it’s a portable desktop…but the ability to take off the keyboard is amazing! Also…back venting! Genius!

Glad to see Alienware are still building true gaming laptops. Considering they invented the standard, rest is just a money waste for delusional dreamers.

Plenty of new laptops, but I have an ASUS ROG 2016 laptop that is a fast computer and don’t need anymore speed in my computer. Everything here is luxury. But Windows 10 (or any recent past xp windows from Microsoft) sure takes a lot of PC power to run. For example, regularly my laptop performance spikes up when Microsoft things are running even with no other applications are open such as this telemetry thing and at startup when it reaches 100% disk read and write usage on ssd and 100% cpu usage on a quad core i7 6700hk cpu which is fast for anything released up to 2015.
For old computers, install other OS on them such as linux or try ecomstation OS.

    1)15 minutes to boot

I got my 2060 yesterday and it is playing Overwatch at 4K 60 with no trouble. All I had to do was turn anti-aliasing completely off and, let’s be honest, anti-aliasing really doesn’t do much at 4K anyway.

I’m also able to run Doom 2016 at 4K and a locked 60 at Ultra settings with zero concessions and it NEVER dips.

Fortnite runs 4K and performs 53-60 FPS on a mix between Ultra and high settings, again, anti-aliasing disabled.

My point being, despite what most YouTubers claim, 2060 is a viable 4K card for many games, even without DLSS or Variable Rate Shading support.

Of course, there are exceptions. Destiny 2 struggles to maintain stable performance at 4K. This can be fixed by dropping to medium settings but, at that point I would rather run 1440 and a locked 60 FPS at Ultra.

Overall, I’m VERY pleased with the 2060.

The Allienware Area 51-M is nice but buy it as it is. The upgrading part seems like a nice dream, but mainly that.. a dream and here is why I think that will be the case:
1 The next CPU will most likely use a new socket type so that means you will not be able to replace it with the next gen. You will be able to replace/repair the current cpu it if it fails or upgrade/downgrade with models that are already out but that is all you will be able to do
2 The GPU upgradeablility is a gamble. You will always depend on them providing new upgrades.
    3. Maybe I didn’t look long enough but unless they also provide changeable powering solutions then it might not handle the next gen of CPUs and GPUs.

So.. easier to service/ repair but i would not recommend it just for the upgrade/future-proof aspect.

  45. fUll 951 on November 11, 2019 at 10:47 pm

mouse and keyboard for xbox-one was the best. not because I want to buy it or even recommend buying that set up. but because it shows they are fine with mouse and keyboard on the platform and what it means in terms of new games console gamers get to experience now. wider app functionality… next thing Xbox gamers need to ask for is Microsoft office!

$3,500 to $5,000 for a gaming PC? Did I hear that right? I bought my 4K-capable console for less than $400. Damn, are PC gamers stupid or what
