300 Watt Solar Blanket Compare: ATEM Vs KT Cables

300 Watt Solar Blanket Compare: ATEM Vs KT Cables

When shopping for a solar blanket I found there was a large difference in not only price, but claimed power generation output by the manufacturer. I tried avoiding the 300W+ eBay style blankets as they just seemed to good to be true for the price being asked, however I was also curious as to why some other manufacturers (mainly local Australian brands) where charging 2, 3 times or even more for similar rated solar blankets.

I decided to give two different panels a try out. The ATEM as I’d seen this brand recommended as a solid cheap alternative, and then also the KT Cables blanket which was over twice the price but had good reviews. Main take away I came to was that if you are looking for a simple single blanket solution, then the surface area of that blanket is probably one of the best indicators of actual achievable output. Although the KT Cables easily outperformed the ATEM, it still probably isn’t a bad option if you can pick one up on one of their 20% discount sales. 2 x ATEM blankets (purchased on sale) in series into a MPPT controller will be cheaper than a single KT Cables blanket with it’s included PWM controller, with the added benefit of also likely generating significantly more power (theory yet to be tested).

Good review, I have the atem 300w & rarely get over 9amps. The kt cables seems much better but then it’s 3 times the price.

Excellent basic & simple to the point type of review, can you share a link of the panels? Also I recommend that you get yourself an MPPT and not that type you used
