A delightful way to teach kids about computers | Linda Liukas
Computer code is the next universal language, and its syntax will be limited only by the imaginations of the next generation of programmers. Linda Liukas is helping to educate problem-solving kids, encouraging them to see computers not as mechanical, boring and complicated but as colorful, expressive machines meant to be tinkered with. In this talk, she invites us to imagine a world where the Ada Lovelaces of tomorrow grow up to be optimistic and brave about technology and use it to create a new world that is wonderful, whimsical and a tiny bit weird.

Disgusting person
I hate CERN.
very very very interesing!!!!!!!!!
computers are only as complicated as you want them to be! (so never let them intimidate you!) Just swim in the shallow end of the pool and don’t be intimidated by what you see in the deep end, because you only have to go there if and when you want. Likewise with programming… yes it can get very complicated at the deep end, but writing simple text adventure games or drawing images in languages like Basic and Logo and so on is very simple – I encourage kids to start programming as soon as they can, but it’s important to help ensure they don’t get overwhelmed
I could tell she’d be all smile and full of energy just by looking at the thumbnail! At some points, I was really worried she’d be too excited and have difficulty in breathing. However, she easily showed her passion towards coding and inspired other people too. A good talk!
Love your dress Linda did Ted help you pick it out, it fits you good? These are just some of the computer codes I know: COBOL,Assembly Language, Fortran,Ruby, Basic, HTML, CSS,but do to colonialism I am just dirty spot that must be cleaned up with the corona virus European Injection!!or available for Human Trafficking!
Beautifully put. Hope in my country it will developed.
so lovely and wonderful! I got inspired
Absolutely fantastic talk. Can’t wait to read the book to my 11 month old!
This is a wonderful speech very amzing to my mind and easy to make someone understand programming , thank you so much for this presentation, you have really refueled my perception , am a passionate newbies of computer coding and programming
what a speech…so smooth….cannot imagine me speaking like that….wonderfull mam
verey thanks
كلام جميل ومنطقي👏🏻👏🏻
I like her talk
who cares about the kids i am going to follow her…..
I can’t see how any of what she’s talking about is helpful…Programming should be taught at an age appropriate time, like 8th grade. If kids can’t do algebra and arithmetic, how are they going to learn about the complex logic of computers…? The material she presented about looping concepts is better taught in gym class and learning sports. American schools need to remove the politics and testing and let teachers work. A lesson plan from the 1970’s is probably better than a modern one. In those days we had several aids in the class and parents with the time to help. Now we want it all for 25 students per class and a single over worked teacher. The teachers just complain about salary….it’s crazy.
YOU FORGOT LITTLE BOYS!
I like her so cute
She is cute and very excited
hmm
call me about coding the world
she looks so nice
مذهل …. يجب على الاطفال تعلم البرمجة مثل تعلم الرياضيات و العلوم
Her voice is very awesome. I wish i could talk as well as her
her smiley eyes are so pretty
Wow
Loved the way you put forth your ideas … smiling all the way!!
Dear thank you for changing the world ! You are the most beautiful code girl in this world!!
This woman is an anime
i wish all my teachers had her voice. love listening to it, can’t imagine me falling asleep.
Very great talk!
Okay, I know the video is old, but her "cheerful" attitude was definitely too much for me.
i am crazy at code and programming i really wanna become a coder or programmer , i feel that when i learn , i can change my world
her smile makes me happy. when she’s smiling , I’m smiling, too.
"Encourage creators vs. consumers" – Wow this is a powerful quote
great way of speaking!! she’s awesome

LOVE IT!
Real real engaging and educative presentation. well done
Moominvalley, Tatooine, Narnia. You sold me! I want to learn programming!!
Ххмусчггзашп
OMG! She’s so poetic.
I wish I was half as expressive as her.
She loves what she does. That’s what I thought throughout the entire talk. She’s lucky to have found a way to do what she loves for a living. And her students are lucky to have found a teacher who teaches with such passion. The perfect classroom!
great job
Great talk. I wish I was taught coding when I was at school. I’m currently teaching myself, doing bits here and there. Coding and programming is the backbone for many jobs nowadays in such an age where our lives revolve around tech.
hi
I came here after watching interview she did with Chris Sacca
Real Interesting Topic. this is what exactly needed in today’s life. Congratulations to TED
I like her voice…
