I wish moment could collaborate with a great company that makes gimbals that would automatically adjust to the weight of the phone and with every moment lens that you use. Because when you’re filming your own short film like I’ve done a few times it’s such a pain when you want to change lenses at the last minute for a shot. Then you have to readjust the gimbal to the new weight naturally because some lenses weigh more than others so of course the weight of the lens in the phone won’t be the same. If moment could invent a gimbal with a strong motor and a gimbal that could automatically adjust to the weight of the phone and the lens attached where you didn’t have to do…..this balancing act and have to have all of these counterweights I would definitely pay for it no questions asked.

FYI: Smooth 4 is a professional appearing gimbal and the motors are strong etc. … all the buttons and stuff are cool and it works pretty nice. But most of the functions are company-app-only. Just read what bitrate you get out of the strange app with an old and new face to switch between. Then you will realise that all the features can’t be used in fully potential. I am pretty disappointed.
How do you manage the lack of microphone mount??

Smooth 4 does not do 3×3 or 3×5 very well at all. They claim it’s the app. But nothing has been done and it’s been around a while since it’s been around.
OSMO 3 is poor with any moment Lenses, the anamorphic is the best of 3

Thanks for your thoughts. Would have loved to see side-by-side comparisons of the same shots with each of the three gimbals. Also would’ve liked more specifics on the unique controls the more expensive ones have. Overall though this was helpful thank you
Zhiyun Smooth 4 is shit
I’m surprised the zhiyun is still considered a good gimbal in 2020. I got mine soon after release and I very much enjoyed the gimbal itself but the program they made for it is complete garbage. Just a shame because like this man said the zhiyun gimbal is such a professionally built device but its software cripples it.

Nice video thanks, hope you answer comments, I tried the Rollei Study Butler 2 the first one had a bad shake issue, the second, auto calibration is not working well. So I think I want to go with Zhiyun Smooth 4, but the app is not compatible with my phone but I should have more stable less shakey footage? What did you use for your counterweight ?
i read the smooth 4 must use specific software; unlike the Q2. but less button controls.
Any tips on how to manage exposure while shooting video? I have the iPhone XR and it automatically adjusts and drives me up a wall! Maybe my phone just doesn’t have that capability?? Oh and I also have the Xenvo attachable lense but I don’t know if i can attach filters to that which might help!?!

Just add weights to the opposite side of the Osmo 3, to keep it balanced, about 3 should be enough.

What if you have moment lenses as well as a lighting port style mic such as the mv88(+)? Will the counterweights work with that? Also I think they should somehow incorporate a solution or being able to attach something on top for condenser mics like the mv88+ so it could be a complete rig setup
i noticed you used a moment lens on the movi without a counterweight. How is this possible? As I heard it’s a must to have a counterweight attached to the gimbal.

Smooth 4 was such a pain in the ass to use. I tell you, it was decent until the software was supportive anymore. what a flipping joke. the only good thing about the Smmoth 4 was the stand. the thing was too much like a fishing pole.
So it’s 2020 I gotta ask do any of these gimbals work with the oppo a31? I’m planning on buying one
