COD WW2 D-Day Comparison: which game did it best?

Playing through the Call of Duty World War 2 D-Day mission is an intense experience but COD WW2 is not the first game to have approached the WW2 Normandy Landings. In this D-Day comparison video, Ian compares the Medal of Honor: Allied Assault D-Day level, the Medal of Honor Frontlines D-Day level, the Call of Duty 2 D-Day level, the Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WW2 D-Day level and the Company of Heroes 2 D-Day level. This video also features footage from Saving Private Ryan’s Omaha Beach sequence .

The best game to compare what happened is the Conker: Live & Reloaded game. Yes it’s a squirrel but it was legitimately done like movie saveing private Brian.

  13. MaTeS on October 31, 2019 at 5:50 pm

Forgotten Hope 2 has the most accurate D-Day maps

Call of duty WW2 has an awesome D day mission, but the sound was its only flaw, the sound of guns where just so bad in Call of duty WW2, and at first I didn’t care really much, but then I started playing Indie games like Post Scriptum, Hell let loose and Day of infamy among others. and the sound design in those games where incredible when in comparison to a AAA budget game. Honestly I still can’t figure out to this day why the sound design was just so awful, other then possibly Multiplayer being to blame with there really small maps, and with gun noises being too loud giving away positions etc. It’s be nice though if they updated the game with better sound as it’s not impossible, they just choose not to.

You also forgot the Omaha beach mission in Call of Duty 2: Big Red One which was Treyarchs first call of duty and was for the ps2 and xbox not the xbox 360.

  17. Anthony Vigil on October 31, 2019 at 5:54 pm

Why aren’t there More pacific theater ww2 games?

  18. CrawlerEnder 935 on October 31, 2019 at 5:55 pm

I’ve been to Omaha and Utah beach two years ago. At low tide, I was blown away at how far the allies had to run and how quickly the sea level rose. After looking at these in the FPS, I do have to say that MoH did have a better representation of how far, but even that still paled in comparison how long the Allies had to run.

They should of had operation Neptune mp map be in the campaign instead

Higgins boat exploding on your left CHECK
Higgins boat exploding on your left CHECK

These are so recycled or just gutted from Saving Private Ryan. Even in CoD WWII.

  22. CA91 on October 31, 2019 at 5:59 pm

4:08 "by shamelessly copying scenes from Saving Private Ryan"……. Well the game is created by Steven Spielberg

  23. Cedric Canaveral on October 31, 2019 at 6:01 pm

9:10 "Clearly from the cockpit of an American Warplane"
Sorry to correct you but that’s a Tempest a British aircraft and D-Day saw the first mass use of Tempests during WW2 (pls dont confuse Tempests to P-51Ds just because of markings on the wings pay attention to the roundel and radiator ty)

  29. D N on October 31, 2019 at 6:09 pm

Fun fact:The assault on Palilu was way worse than D-DAY.

  30. RiverChicken on October 31, 2019 at 6:10 pm

I hope you realise that not all troops on dday were American like that plane mission was in a British typhoon aircraft

  31. cooldude on October 31, 2019 at 6:10 pm

I feel CoD WW2 has the worst, most cinematic and less realistic version of them all

  34. Jared Isley-Oliver on October 31, 2019 at 6:14 pm

Steven Spielberg asked EA to make a ww2 shooter to go with his movie Saving Private Ryan. He was there for most of the first games. Of course they took inspiration from his work as with out him who else would of thought of making a ww2 shooter at that time?

  37. ZIR JAGER on October 31, 2019 at 6:16 pm

bullets would not have traveled that far in the underwater. In reality a bullet can only travel a foot or two through water before stopping, loosing the momentum it needs to kill even before that.

  38. _jeff _ on October 31, 2019 at 6:16 pm

cod 2 i think was utah beach the others were omaha beach

  39. MOStein on October 31, 2019 at 6:17 pm

Now imagine if Battlefield V wasn’t a cesspool of twitter feminist propaganda……Probably would have been the best piece of WW2 entertainment media in history. Sad.

  46. Mega Halo Productions on October 31, 2019 at 6:29 pm

Cod ww2 did it worse, cutscene, cutscene, cutscene, you should have control all time, and when text needs to be given it doesn’t need to be in a cutscene.

  48. The Angry Badger 2506 on October 31, 2019 at 6:34 pm

No Gold or Sword? In any games? Why do they focus on the Americans and not us Brits. I can only think of at least five games where the you play the British in WWII out of dozens of games.

  49. Nul Atlas on October 31, 2019 at 6:35 pm

9:22 thats a British plane my dude

  50. Elan Martin on October 31, 2019 at 6:37 pm

Remember the opening of Battlefield 1? Wouldn’t it have been cool if they did that sorta thing with Battlefield V where you’re at different large scale battles of World War 2 and each time you die you get placed into another soldiers body?
