Games People Play, Spring, TX, 1982
Back in the early 1980s, Games People Play was the place to be in Spring, TX when Astroworld and WaterWorld were too far for your parents to drive to. This all-purpose fun center didn’t have the same acreage as Malibu Grand Prix, but made up for its smaller go-kart track by also including a bumper boats and a triple water slide. Mini-golf perilously close to the raging F.M. 1960 was also a hit, as were the video games. Many kids had a birthday party there, including me, as evidenced by this Super 8 footage from 1982.
The place was off of Welcome Road and F.M. 1960. The sign had a crown atop the “M” in the word “games.”
