Great storytelling. Thank you for covering this. I do not own any Haier products but I will be looking now as I purchase a home.

THEY TOOK THE INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY OF FISHER AND PAYKEL TO MAKE FRIDGES… INSTEAD OF EXPANDING ON THE OPRIGINAL NAMES AND KEEN THE MANUFACTURING IN THOSE COUNTIRES

  7. morgan disabato on December 28, 2019 at 2:25 am

bought an a/c unit, works well, they forgot to put in the remote, the curtain, brackets, all but the a/c unit itself, then the customer service, what a joke, didn’t understand English and I never did get my part with 2 follow up calls, never again with a company that got funded by communists and treats customers like they don’t exist, but that is the commie way

It is a PR piece , not to take any merits from the Chinese, over Americans and how GE lost its ways. I would love to get posters on feedback from German makers such as Miele , Liebherr, Bosch . And top tier appliances such as Viking.

My microwave is Haier and the item being warmed doesnt turn around, how cool. Then when its ready it has 5 beeps instead of 3.

  10. DudeDuderino Duderino on December 28, 2019 at 2:29 am

It matters not to me what country an item comes from providing the price and quality is there. Good on Haier.

  11. av40229 on December 28, 2019 at 2:30 am

Haier paid 5.5 Billion dollars for the GE logo and GE still has control or at least at Appliance Park in Louisville Kentucky (I know because line 8 is where I work that was shown within the first 1:30 of video).

They haven’t changed management which was the cause of why GE sold out. They allow(ed) employees to drink on line, watch their cellphones all day while the line is running.
It’s ran with Second hand quality and zero respect for the employees as long as those numbers go out the door for their product bonuses.

Haier won’t last 15 years before they try to sellout or close these building down and relocate.
Follow up on Haier in the next year and ask why they shutdown building 5 aka refrigerator line? Which I’ll tell you that there’s negative profit from that line. Which will cause the elimination of nearly 300 employees.

Screw GE, Screw Haier, they care Nothing for their people.

We own a Haier fridge, we did not knew that it was a Chinese company while buying, now i do, but even though Chinese products are usually associated with poor quality, Haier is an exception, our fridge works really well, and we never had a problem with it.
I will recommend Haier refrigerators to anyone wishing to buy one.

So many comments about China’s innovation. China mastered the Art of Espionage and Tech Theft. For the past 40 years+ China has stolen Intellectual property from Western Advanced Technology. They can replicate nearly anything that another nations R/D department can drum up.

I once had a Haier fridge, the thing lasted 10 years and was only decommissioned due to non-availability of parts. Went to the market and got another Haier fridge. Five years later, it’s still running like new.

Venezuelan government under Chavez bought a shit ton of Haier products (tvs, washers, AC, fridges, etc) to buy votes from people on election times, i bet that helped the company 😉

I’m 54 and I don’t ever remember GE being known for quality products, always avoided them. Looks like others did the same eventually.

Nice promo video for haier. Bet this is directed at an american and australian audience to show how good haier are. China are the king of stealing technology, malware and espionage.

Not hard to understand. I bought a GE Television 45 years ago. Went for about 18 months. Had to have it repaired. The honest repairer told me not to waste my money to fix it. Buy an Australian made TV or Japanese. Like a fool I did not listen to him. Had to throw it out in another 12 months. I bought a Japanese one. Lasted 20 years.
The last bit of USA made shit I ever bought until about 1980 when I bought 7 GE Electric Motors for a Grain Drying plant. Crap. Always burning out. After a few years of constant problems they were replaced with Australian Motors as they failed one after another. GE made shit!
    Australian.

I don’t understand why companies need to add a computer to a fridge or oven. And to market it as 4G/5G innovation. Absolute bullshit. It just adds another point of failure…. which doesn’t contribute to core functionality in the first place.

  41. Cris Meman on December 28, 2019 at 3:06 am

GE build the first and only nuclear power plant in my country back in the 80’s until now,it’s still new.. never use due to fear after the Chernobyl disaster..😔

  45. Brian O'Hara on December 28, 2019 at 3:10 am

GE used to be one of the great companies, under Jack Welch. Now, a bunch of Republicans amoral suits, have sold off supporting businesses and are streamlining their business model, after giving execs MASSIVE BONUSES from the proceeds of these ancillary sales. The business model at GE for over a 100 years was to have subsidiaries, which brought in revenue streams during economic downturns, to shield the bottom line from huge movements in profits and losses. These greedy Republican Execs have instituted boom and bust economics exclusively motivated by massive exec bonuses. The Al "CHAINSAW" Dunlap model. Good job!
