Is Texas Becoming The New California?

Tesla’s gigafactory and Apple’s second-largest campus aren’t the only big businesses coming to Texas. From Oracle to Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Elon Musk to Joe Rogan, Texas has lured an increasing number of big businesses and billionaires away from California since the pandemic began. While California’s population and job growth both slowed to a trickle, Texas added more residents than any other state in 2020. CNBC talks to those moving and longtime Texans about the reasons behind the trend and what it could mean for the future of the Lone Star State.

Musk is on record saying that his solar power company will end up far more valuable than his car company. Given what happened in February I can’t see him not making a big push for solar sales in Texas. Texans value freedom and independance? Being able to cut yourself off from the grid is definitely in line with that.

People who wish to live in the stone age and mandate control over their women should have a place to live. Leave Texas alone!

  4. Kameron A on December 15, 2021 at 5:22 am

Stop moving here, please!!! Rich transplants are pricing me out of my hometown!!

  5. Danniel Gan on December 15, 2021 at 5:23 am

I hope not! No need for liberals to move to Texas!

  6. Juan Arizmendez on December 15, 2021 at 5:26 am

Also alot of Americans who lived in san diego moved to tijuana Mexico 🇲🇽 to live a better life. Better food and cost of living.

    I pay $550 for a 4 bedroom house, 3 bathrooms and it’s gated.

The power equipment failed because it is not properly maintained/protected/prepared including the necessary protection against extreme weather (freezing).

Let’s get this sht straight….Texas is TEXAS……and to compare it to California and it’s BS is a slander to Texas and its residents. We are PROUD TEXANS and TEXICANS.

  13. Philip Hoang on December 15, 2021 at 5:32 am

Texas will become the new California . The effort of the Deep States and J B administration is to make the US a socialist communist state , so all the 50 states must be the same .

  14. mike Angelo on December 15, 2021 at 5:33 am

The problem is they take their crazy ideas and nonsense to Texas. Contaminating Texas with their radical foolish views

They are doing it because you are letting them in!

  19. Bob Burnitt on December 15, 2021 at 5:38 am

Texas is being RUINED by the EXACT same thing that ruined CAlifornia and every other place in the world, OVER POPULATION!!! When I was YOUNG CAlifornia was the greatest place I ever saw. But it was RUINED by TOO MANY PEOPLE!!! You cannot have Infinite growth, in a FINITE PLACE. The NEW people that move in will bring with them the SAME THING that drove them away from the last place they ruined. I am a 6th generation Texan and in my lifetime I have seen the place RUINED. You have to be an ARITOCRAT to buy LAND in Texas. All of my ancestors were in AGRICULTURE, they raised CATTLE and owned farms. The land in TEXAS is NO LONGER affordable to FARM and has NOT BEEN since I was a Boy. A time will come people will be fleeing TEXAS for the same reason they are leaving CAlifornia. Thomas Robert Malthus was RIGHT. My ancestors are rolling in their graves.

rewrite the title, are bootlickers moving to TX?

  21. Joseph DiLorenzo on December 15, 2021 at 5:43 am

No, it will always be texas. This is a dumb "news" topic..

  22. Roman Gonzales on December 15, 2021 at 5:45 am

    LONG LIVE THE REPUBLIC

  23. Glenn Martin on December 15, 2021 at 5:45 am

Leaving California for Texas because of taxes, house prices and over-regulation but only going as far as Nevada. Nevada could take huge advantage of this trend if they had the water.

  24. Sinjin Reed on December 15, 2021 at 5:45 am

I hope this makes the sate bluer.

  25. Ramon Ng on December 15, 2021 at 5:46 am

I not only moved out of state, I fled the USA….and so happy I did….I will never come back.

Have you seen at least one, of those youtube videos of the homeless in Philadelphia……? Saw one, inadvertently, and could not sleep.for hours…

It is the real state of life in the US now……doesn’t matter where, it is just a matter of time, if the US does not immediately reverse course.

  26. sterger7 on December 15, 2021 at 5:46 am

The really dumb part about this is, texas republicans are encouraging this really really aggressively but everyone’s overlooking the obvious. These idiots are going to bring their idiotic liberal tech people with them who will vote the same way they did in California and destroy TX just like they destroyed CA. That’s the problem with these clowns. They simply do _not_ learn from their mistakes.

  27. Ramon Aguirre on December 15, 2021 at 5:47 am

Freedom don’t bring your blue BS over here if you are just stay in California and live with the stupid laws you vote for that has little by little been the demise of such a beautiful state.

  28. Maurice O'Ray II on December 15, 2021 at 5:49 am

It has more to do with politicians plotting to get re-elected than a shift in culture.

  29. Mister Myself on December 15, 2021 at 5:50 am

If people from California and other areas, stop coming here and telling us how we should change, we will be OK. We arent the ones mass migrating. So, either come here and assimilate or youre going to start having problems.

  30. Jacob Waishes on December 15, 2021 at 5:52 am

I think if you dont like your stat do stuff to change it dont just run away of what you have done.

  31. Kip Itreal on December 15, 2021 at 5:53 am

The only reason why Texas still is a republican state is because Gerrymandering…. And although there are plenty of jobs here, you gotta have 2 jobs in order to get by. So unless you’re one of the privileged 1% you’re just as screwed here as anywhere else

  32. Joe Black on December 15, 2021 at 5:55 am

Ha! Will be interesting to see how the lobbying money shifts.
More Teslas in Texas than Cali soon.
This should speed oil’s demise right up.

  33. Keith Brooks on December 15, 2021 at 5:57 am

As a Texan I pray that this state becomes BLUE. I am so tired of living in a backwards ignorant racist state.

  34. G Roble on December 15, 2021 at 5:59 am

Not if you don’t let them reside there. The screwed up their state so now they WantYours.

  35. Owen Sands on December 15, 2021 at 6:00 am

Please don’t ruin Texas. I’ve lived in Dallas my whole life and so have my parents and their grandparents. And before them, my ancestors lived out in ennis Texas farming in the 1800s. Texas will always be my true home. But over the past few years, the population has skyrocketed in Dallas. Traffic sucks and there are too many people. Honestly Californians can just leave, they’re making our state too liberal.

  36. MDSK on December 15, 2021 at 6:00 am

  37. Oscar BuffaloEngine.com on December 15, 2021 at 6:02 am

  38. SWAMPDONK HUNTER on December 15, 2021 at 6:03 am

Very sad.. grew up in Austin and recently went home and I don’t even recognize it anymore.. it’s like a zoo

  39. Glenn Martin on December 15, 2021 at 6:06 am

No state income tax but a large increase coming in population and the need for services. Yeah, that’ll last.

  40. phil mckay on December 15, 2021 at 6:07 am

i can see oil and gas monopoly on economic policy in texas shifting….

  41. Lalo Lopez on December 15, 2021 at 6:09 am

  43. Reel Unique on December 15, 2021 at 6:10 am

As a Texan I’d rather you stay in your own state than ruin mine like you did yours with high prices, rent, and housing.

  44. Michael Saborido on December 15, 2021 at 6:14 am

  47. rhaacke on December 15, 2021 at 6:17 am

It seems that rats that leave a sinking ship are still rats.

  48. Ali-Reza Goudarzi on December 15, 2021 at 6:19 am

These people from California keep moving to other states and ruining it with their big tech salaries. They make it unaffordable for all the people previously living there.

  49. MDSK on December 15, 2021 at 6:19 am
