I had one call me at work, said they were the Accident Investigation Branch. Being flying school business i was very concerned. Turned out fishing for car claims.

  4. Vic on January 15, 2022 at 9:45 pm

I had one years ago where the insurance quote was more than what the stereo cost ! 🤪

  5. highdownmartin on January 15, 2022 at 9:45 pm

Had one calling about television repairs. What make is your tele? Rediffusion. We rented it in 1970 it’s a big colour set, breaks down a fair bit but it’s still going strong. They hung up

  6. Michael Parkinson on January 15, 2022 at 9:47 pm

Your more patient than me, I just shout and swear at them and take great pleasure in the verbal abuse dished on them. If everyone did that they would look for a better job, no one wants that everyday.

  7. Edith booth on January 15, 2022 at 9:47 pm

    I got this one yesterday.
Eventually I told her that I only pay bills by cheque.
    They don’t do cheques!!

  8. Jeanie Pullen on January 15, 2022 at 9:49 pm

Hilarious, you certainly put them in their place, well done. I feel terribly sorry for those that get caught out, about time this sort of thing was stopped for good

24 scammer’s tv fell off the wall.

  10. edward wigmore on January 15, 2022 at 9:49 pm

I get these. I’ve had my machine for 12 years. The money I’ve not spent on warranties will more than pay for a new one should I need one. That’s a good warranty if you can buy a warranty for a machine that’s already broken – go on mate, keep going. She doesn’t know much, has to pass to her supervisor. Why do these people (obviously Indians) think we believe them?

  11. Malcolm Rich on January 15, 2022 at 9:51 pm

Insurance policies normally cost you more over time than buying a new appliance .Work out the cost of insuring against the cost of buying a new one. The car accident ones I just tell them I died in the accident and they still carry on their script.😂

Anyone who calls you about things like this, just replace the receiver.

  16. K Edmodson on January 15, 2022 at 9:57 pm

Ask them to send the paperwork.

  17. Martin Shorthose on January 15, 2022 at 9:58 pm

I always buy my TVs, HiFi and Audio Visual stuff from Richer Sounds.
They have a wonderful extended warranty – often free if you spend enough on a TV.
If you need to buy the extended warranty it costs 10% of the purchase price of your equipment. It lasts five years and I’ve had a couple of bits of equipment either repaired or replaced with new – no quibbles. Also, if when the 5th anniversary date comes round, you haven’t used your warranty, then you can claim back the money you spent on it.
Seems to be a no-lose bargain to me!

  18. CharlieTheGrey on January 15, 2022 at 9:59 pm

There is a genuine company who does this called Domestic and General and they do "extend the warranty", offer repairs included and free replacement if they can’t repair. I was with them for a while at £10/month but it’s probably better to save the money yourself and put it towards a new machine. That’s what I decided.

  21. Quiet Man on January 15, 2022 at 10:06 pm

He I’m 63 and over the years have owned many white goods . I have never insured any of them at any time.
I have never had an appliance break down . I have always replaced them because I want to update them. I went to Curry’s a few years back and wanted to purchase a 60 inch Tv, cost was 2000 quid, at the checkout if the assistant asked me to take out extended warranty once, she asked me 15 times. In the end I told her if you don’t take my payment within the next 20 seconds I’ll walk away.
    She took the payment.

  22. thisisnumber0 on January 15, 2022 at 10:06 pm

Shame you couldn’t get cover for the Hotpoint, you get a horse with that.

  23. Adam Simmons on January 15, 2022 at 10:09 pm

I just had a new kitchen installed by my local housing association. I bought all new appliances to go with my new kitchen. These were all Hotpoint – a ceramic hob cooker, a washing machine, a fridge freezer and a dishwasher. Literally within 10 minutes of registering said items for the warranty, it wasn’t long before I was inundated with a phone call wanting me to indulge in a insurance policy for each of my appliances 😬

    Repent to Jesus Christ!

    Are you a sinner?

Saint Luke 5:32 KJV I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Saint Luke 13:3 KJV I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

  30. Peter Walker on January 15, 2022 at 10:13 pm

You could get more bonus on selling a extended warranty than selling a product costing twice as much if you was a good salesman in businesses in the past don’t think most are so gullable now but I could be wrong

  31. Steve Hodge on January 15, 2022 at 10:15 pm

I love winding these idiots up just like this, it’s hilarious making them squirm. Sad though that they are so callous ripping off the unsuspecting – evil

  32. nicholasr39 on January 15, 2022 at 10:15 pm

Gosh you get a lot of these calls! Worse than me!

  33. Dee Mac on January 15, 2022 at 10:17 pm

I’ve probed callers on the phone claiming to be my bank’s fraud team. When I ask them to tell me what other account I have they insist on sticking with the account they claimed had been accessed (even though I had my unaccessed accounts displayed on my laptop before me).

  34. edward wigmore on January 15, 2022 at 10:19 pm

We will look into it, we will send our labours!!! Waste their time. Scammers should be shot.

  35. Matt Sandilands on January 15, 2022 at 10:20 pm

These warranties are bullshit. You buy a product and it is covered by the Consumer Rights Act 2015 … end of.

  36. Barry on January 15, 2022 at 10:20 pm

Sad really that people knowingly tell you outright lies to steal your money and bank details.

  37. YusTube on January 15, 2022 at 10:22 pm

    Good question

  38. Robin Hood on January 15, 2022 at 10:22 pm

  39. Rizwan Qamar on January 15, 2022 at 10:24 pm

That’s an Indian scammer from Delhi. LOL! They target western people and scam them. They can call you as IRS, Microsoft representatives, and now washing machine insurance agents.

  40. nicholasr39 on January 15, 2022 at 10:29 pm

The giveaway that it’s a scam is when he says ‘Labourers’ this term isn’t used in the UK industry, it would be ‘Technicians’. Even if its a genuine company using foreign call centres, they would be using a script using British terms…..I do not know why people fall for it although I’m sure the ones who do fall for it must be vulnerable such as elderly people suffering from dementia or someone with learning difficulties which makes this scam even more cruel

  41. Bill Giles on January 15, 2022 at 10:32 pm

We get these call about a car accident, when I ask which one they get flustered.

  42. Oi! on January 15, 2022 at 10:32 pm

I asked them the Make, they hung up…..

  43. move sky on January 15, 2022 at 10:33 pm

broken washing ask them to repair

  44. kiln kardz on January 15, 2022 at 10:34 pm

I have had a few of these types of calls recently. All slightly different but they eventually get to the point of saying that they can set up a direct debit for the payment of £179.99 for one year. I said I could set up the direct debit myself if I wanted the service but they insisted that only they could set it up if I just gave them the relevant card details (of course I am really going to do that so that they can steal each and every penny that I have). So I just declined the offer saying I wasn’t interested and they cut the call straight away as they realized they were not going to get any card details from me.

  45. Sandra Furlong on January 15, 2022 at 10:35 pm

What absolute scumbags. People don’t be so stupid, as to fall for these scams. They are based in India, how can they come out and check your appliances, lol.

  46. Alex Dokic on January 15, 2022 at 10:36 pm

The idiots who try to scam people over the phone or at the front door should be lined up and S T

  47. Simon Miles on January 15, 2022 at 10:36 pm

One question, if it’s a scam why won’t they cover the broken appliance? If I was a scammer, I’d take a payment for the broken appliance, promise a repair within a week, then disappear.

Clearly they don’t know a warranty has expired as they don’t know the appliance details, but the OP is clearly signing up for the calls to produce content, evidenced when they know his name.

  48. PR NOTHALL on January 15, 2022 at 10:37 pm

Reatail salespeople in New Zealand ALWAYS try to sell you an ‘extended warranty’ on major appliances, when every such appliance is warrantied, by law, that the appliance must operate as promised or be repaired or replaced. Lots of customers sign up for this, which goes straight into the salespersons pocket as an incentive to sell firstly, and as a bonus to their salary.

  49. mrbassman49 on January 15, 2022 at 10:38 pm

I have all my household appliances insured for repair or replacement by Domestic and General Insurance. I had one of these people call me to tell me that my washing machine warranty had run out. Now when the call just started they gave their name as Star Insurance, when I said I already have cover with domestic and general they tried to convince me that they were acting on their behalf. I’ve been with D & G for the last twenty years and know they would write to me if they were handing my account to another company.
They really think I’m that stupid.

  50. Hywel Williams on January 15, 2022 at 10:39 pm

Amazing how all these "warranty" people have Indian accents. Ve Vill check it out.
