So… 2 questions, A) what if it doesn’t make a perfect fit with the person’s face, and B), how doesn’t it crush the dude’s lungs

  4. jird15 on April 27, 2022 at 4:40 am

Why do we want to plunge the object further down the throat before sucking it up? wouldn’t it be better to start with a collapsed tool and then suck the object our?

  5. BG Tech on April 27, 2022 at 4:41 am

I search “mouth plunger” and I got here

  8. That Guy on April 27, 2022 at 4:46 am

    it’s a face plunger

  9. Pawlik on April 27, 2022 at 4:50 am

Simple experiment. Put some liquid in a straw. Seal one end with your finger. Try to suck the liquid through the other end. If you understand how suction actually works, you understand why you can’t suck the liquid through. This is analogous to the human anatomy – the airway is sealed at one end open at the other.

  19. I love my cat on April 27, 2022 at 5:01 am

Nice idea. Wonder if it can damage lungs by pulling outward ?
Well I ordered one anyway, I’m a choker and don’t wanna go out that way so. I’ll try it

This company is trash for making it cost $70 I hate this world. So greedy.

  29. Patricia Burgos on April 27, 2022 at 5:12 am

This is a great idea. I can see a need but ad can be misleading. When one does chest compressions ribs can be broken but rarely breaks in using the Heimlich maneuver. The product is as effective as someone using it and equally as ineffective if not used correctly- Much the same as Heimlich maneuver. Similarly this has a mask that’s required to be completely sealed over the mouth and nose . If the mask isn’t properly held or sealed I’d presume there would be an air leak and suction cant be performed much the way one needs to ensure the seal when performing bag mask respirations in CPR. The other downside is the probability of someone actually having this in their bag at all times. Perhaps this is a great idea for home bound individuals whom are morbid obese, in homes with those with special needs especially with a home with someone with dysphasia and stores or companies where a first aid kit is required on property. Basic CPR and Heimlich should be taught in middle school as a general education class in health and kids should be certified in CPR / AED use and by graduating high school. If we can teach sex Education in 6th and 7th grade there is no reason this shouldn’t teach these skills to children and empower them.

2 cents from a physician who does airway stuff (I just watched the video and didn’t read the company’s instructions etc., it would be interesting to know if they line up with my thoughts):

For choking (any age group) I would look in the mouth first and try to see and grab the object (blindly sweeping might push it down further, so I’d avoid this). Then I would try a Heimlich because you aren’t directly messing with the airway. After these steps, I think it would be a reasonable option (out of hospital) to use this device as your backup.

The problem with using this device first (skipping other steps) is that there are most likely small air gaps around the offending object and you could end up just pulling air past it (especially if its lower down in the trachea) – this can cause negative pressure pulmonary edema. This is a fancy name for sucking at lung tissue. The pressure pulls water into the lung spaces where air normally goes. You can drown from this alone. The volume of air moved by the device doesn’t look too high, but the potential damage would be increased by being a small kid or an older person, or if the air is moved very quickly by the device.

So I think it looks like an excellent adjunct for when both (1)pulling out an object and (2)a Heimlich are unsuccessful. It shouldn’t be used in a North American hospital because there are less risky options including personnel and other airway equipment.

BUT IF THEY HAVE IT IN A NECKLACE? THAT WOULD HELP ME MORE.

  35. Kryssie Mathieu on April 27, 2022 at 5:16 am

When you push down could that potentially be pushing whatever is lodged further down?

  36. 97warlock ismyname on April 27, 2022 at 5:18 am

So when it Unlodges the item ……. the person will imiidietly gasp for air hard & resuck it back down again?

  37. Shinko on April 27, 2022 at 5:18 am

…we have a life saving device in seconds. Heimlich maneuver. Its something should be taught in schools nationwide

  41. Stoned Assassin on April 27, 2022 at 5:24 am

The world is in desperate need of this. People don’t know shit nowadays like CPR or the Heimlich

  42. Furkan Ayas on April 27, 2022 at 5:26 am

Is it risky? You can push little particles in your lungs

  43. Rama Lama Ding Dong on April 27, 2022 at 5:28 am

This seems contrary to what you want to accomplish. The initial set of the device requires a pump down which essentially pushes the choking particle down further.

  44. Jackie on April 27, 2022 at 5:30 am

    toilet plunger for your mouth

  45. Tim Jansen on April 27, 2022 at 5:30 am

I complained when the wife bought little hammers to keep inside the car, hammers to break car windows in case the car was driven into deep water and the electric windows failed. I do not have a handgun sitting by my bed for protection. I do not carry pepper spray on walks. A person could go on endlessly having life-saving products around. Sometimes a person just has to accept the risk.
