LIVING OFF GRID in a FOREST CABIN – What We Do at Night | BLOWTORCH & FIRE to PROTECT WOOD – Ep.134 Jake and Nicole are living off the grid and starting their family in the rain forests of Western Canada. So far we have lived in a van, a boat, a yurt, and now a mini cabin called a bunkie. We are trying to create a Hรผgelkultur and Permaculture food forest garden to grow ourselves off the food grid and set up some basic amenities using solar panels and batteries for electricity. Our warmth comes from our wood stoves. In this episode we show you what we do inside when it’s raining which around here is A LOT! We get over 20 feet of rain annually and this is truly one of the rainiest places on Planet Earth! We are starting to put away firewood for the winter and using the summer to preserve our wood projects but also incorporating fire “Shou Sugi Ban” Style! If we don’t have wood and preservation down by the end of August then there is no chance to get anything dry until June of 2022! On another note, I enjoy your videos. They have spurred my intent again in wild foraging. I have always harvested wild blackberry, Muscatine, Dewberry, and strawberry in my area. Interested now in Morels and wild salad fixings.

Nicolle, in regards to your form in cutting the tree:
*You were ok at **1:55* but 2:00 you fell apart.
Fix your stance, one foot in front of the other, lower and stabilize your centre of gravity so that it may serve more efficiently as fulcrum and catalyst for kinesiology.
Stable yet fluid~dynamic is how your motion must be, for optimal efficiency in every translation of energy.
This attention to kinesiology will make controling the tool a lot easier(more precise and safe) while extending your stamina = more and higher quality work can be pulled out of your body while keeping your mind fully engaged yet not draining it to the point of exhaustion and burnout.
The principles of how it works:
You keep using your shoulders and arms as if they are the primary source of power, they are not, they are funneling from the true source; your body’s core, it’s centre of gravity.
The further out that chainsaw is held from your body is the more strain you place on your energy supply while also straining your back. There is no need to fully extend and flail your arms if you mostly replace that activity with similar use of your legs(toes all the way up). Propper footwork will reduce strain as it better aligns and maneuvers your body along with the saw. This is why it is fundamental in martial arts, a punch starts from the feet, never the shoulders.
It might seem like more work to use your whole body but proper use of the legs will supliment your heart in pumping bloodflow through the body while minimizing the range of motion your arms have to make, they will mostly channel the force from your core into the external object~tool in your grasp.
Believe what you want, you will anyway but this advice is for boosting your own quality of experience~life.
