Okay. It did not work for me. Geek Squad wont touch it so I had a "tv repair man" try to repair it. He said he swapped out the boards ext., & no luck. Said it might be defective LCD panel which he does not have. So… I am stuck. Help please.
Hello, good morning, I would like to ask you a question, I have the same TV model, and it has a fault, it turns on and off repeatedly, the power card relay sounds and the screen is turned on.
you know it could be
Thank you

Hi i have a Sony TV but when I turn it on, after 12 minutes or less it starts to make some noises and after shut down. Do you have any idea, what is happening? Thanks
i know a brilliant trick if all else fails , just get a piece of alu foil the same size as your circuit board and just lay it all over the back of the the board

One other thing with the lcd panel to t-con board is to clean the contacts on the flexible loom and also at on the t-con board, dust build up and the contacts becoming tarnished are a problem and not only with Sony televisions. A ink rubber makes a good devise for cleaning the gold contacts on the flexible looms and good old contact cleaner to finish off.
Thats odd. I thought you could disconnect one of the top connectors and tv still works showing only half of screen. Maybe tabs were shorting across to adjacent pin.
What if it starts up, displays the logo (sony) starts to play media plugged into hdmi (roku) for 5-10 seconds and then shuts down and turns back on and keeps doing that over and over? I can change volume but can’t access menu or change input and it doesn’t stay on long enough to do a factory reset. Sony bravia KDL-40NX711
Just so you know, you aren’t just a hero to your sister. Providing these invaluable tutorials to so many puts you in that category . Where else can we get such informative and educational videos. I am constantly amazed how you are able to diagnose and repair so many different pieces of equipment and in such a short amount of time. I guess that was a requirement when you worked for a company. As a hobbyist I can spend days if I want working on something. No one would pay me to do that. Thanks from all the thumbs up watchers. And to those few thumbs downers, remove your head from the orifice and insert your thumb !
Hey I have a problem with this tv turning the screen and sound of and turning back on after a second or two, what would you recommend me trying to fix it
Kinda reminds me of my Sony TV i found in the trash the model was KDL-40S2010 . 2 blink error it turned out to be a down power converter IC on mainboard.
Argh. No luck on my KDL46VE5 (basically the same model and year). Although it seemed to work, the BL came on then off then back on again and stayed. But the TV was locked up. The power button and remote didn’t do anything. I had to hard power it off. Seems it does this when you pull the power cord while it’s powering on. Messed with the other T-Con wires, now the BL powers on for 2 seconds then off, and after about 29 seconds it powers off. Before I moved around those ribbon cables it did power off after about 12-13 seconds. I wish I could easily get to the other side of those ribbon cables, they seem to be plugged into connectors at the top edge of the TV. A ribbon cable plugged into a hard to get at connector is a bad design idea.
What we have here is a failure to communicate , 🙂 Interesting how boards and components need to "communicate" to operate properly. I wonder how deep this goes? Is it possible there are communications happening that we do not see or understand ? Perhaps in terms of Permeability or Temperature? I enjoy your videos, you are skilled at what you do. My father was big into fixing CRT’s back in the day, we as a family of 5 always had a basement full of backless CRT’s. 🙂
Hi, can any one help me. My Sony Model KDL40W 5100 was working fine last night today when I turned the power on Sony logo lights and power standby green light comes on but no screen and back lights off. When I unplug the set and plug it back on Sony and power standby green light come on screen and bravia logo come on the after a few seconds screen goes black??? Any suggestions of what could be wrong? Previous to this I was having sound problems which seemed to fix itself.
Have you worked on any 32" Emerson LCD/LED TVs that won’t turn on? I’ve got 2 of them, the first one won’t turn on at all and only produces standby voltages about half of what they should be. The second one will turn on the PS for a few seconds and has the correct voltages but then it shuts off again. I can’t find a schematic for the PS but I’ve checked almost everything on the boards and can’t find anything wrong.
Repairings for the masses, televisions are repaired without even removing a board from its place. But in the real world all the enlighted enthusiasts will think that the technician that took hours for the tv repairing and components parts replacing is trying to cheat them just because having in mind that he lock a screw or remount a flex cable in its socket.
I have a similar symptom with my Sony KDL-55V5100 set, but reseting the connections shown in the video did not resolve the issue. With mine the backlight comes on at 6 seconds but shuts down at 8 seconds. Then the set itself shuts down at 17 seconds. No flashing lights on the front – just the solid green light for 17 seconds. Do these clues lead to another diagnosis?
Happened during our vacation and grandkids had access to the remote. Is there anything they could do from the remote that would break the set and if so is that another clue?
I have a Bravia myself. My dad built an extension to my entertainment center because the set was too wide (the entertainment center was designed for those big CRT sets, but still not wide enough for a flatscreen), so now it sticks out a little in front; perfect because the stand swivels a little so I can access the ports on the back and hook up gaming devices.
I just picked up a Philips LED 49PFL4909/F7 (2014) that had the same issue after somebody spilled lemonade on it.
So I figured your trick was wort trying so I disconnected all of the ribbon cables from the T-con board and rubbed the connectors with clean fingers, plugged everything back up and VOILA it turned on and stayed on !
Unfortunately the screen got broken in a move before I got it.
hey loved the video and great job fixing your sisters tv, you have to take care of your sister, thax
SONY. Just Bologna…they stopped making good tv’s back in the 80’s … too bad..remember the trinatron…cheers 🍻🍻🇺🇸🇺🇸

I charge my family double. They never pay anyway.

Hello, I have a question on sony Bravia TV. I want to send you a photo, where you can be contacted
Well done, she is happy and it only needed a fondle :-D.
Dam connectors 🙁
Good video, I’m always learning on your channel. Haven’t seen that fault before
Your video is inconclusive, too much-information not enough step by step instructions.

Pretty informative videos again ! Just imagining how many tv have been sent to the landfill just for a dusty contacts problem like this !
On this beast hahahahaha. You should say on this sex beast hahahahaha 🤣🤣🤣
