Cool spring reverb, when the digitakt fall 😂

  2. Prism House on July 22, 2020 at 7:52 pm

What’s the deal with the Digitakt only being in mono, but it has a L/R input and output? I was considering one but that’s kind of a deal breaker because I use a lot of stereo samples. Weird choice by them but I guess they want you to get an Octotrack if you want stereo.

so funny, that’s a long time ago that I laughed so much watching a demo! And we got the point, it’s a little beast. Thank you!

  7. Honeyball Lecter on July 22, 2020 at 7:55 pm

I can’t believe I watched this whole review reading Sub titles. I usually can’t do that but for some reason this one was an exception.
    Good on ya Stimming

Das Teil ist der totale crap. Unausgegorene Firmware.

    Lg pascal ✌

This video was the first one I saw about the Digitakt. I had actually never heard of Elektron before, cannot remember how I stumbled on it. When I heard the "deadly delay" I knew I needed this. Now I’m a happy Digitakter. Danke !

  18. Stefan Michael on July 22, 2020 at 8:04 pm

16:04 I have a friend who has the Digitakt and brought it with him to my place the other day, and the reverb really isn’t particularly spectacular. Stimming is being nice, in this video.

To me, the relatively uninspiring reverb is no-go for this unit. It’s a self-contained unit – i.e. a groovebox kind of device, with a single stereo output. So the built-in effects should be better quality – else they’ll detract from everything one does.

Another, albeit much smaller let-down of the Digitakt, is its buttons. They feel very "clickity-clackity". I’d prefer rubber. Quiter. Firmer feel. Especially for a primarily percussion device.

And I’m not down with the bitmap graphics of the screen. Makes everything harder to read.

The conditional programming the Digitakt can do however, is really interesting. I like making technology work for me, in peculiar ways. Lots of cool "controlled randomness" can be done with this.

Stimming ended up getting one and he’s using it in all of his new sets (or at least in those that I saw). In a new video by telekom beats he described it as the one drum machine/Sampler he would keep if he would have to only keep one.
I’m writing this comment because this review almost convinced me not to buy one (During months I was comparing so many different Drum Machines, because I needed one which I could use for my live setup and in the studio as well). I finally ended up getting the Digitakt and it was the right decision for me. Here’s why:
    1. It has overbridge (a beta version which works fine) now. Which means that you can record all of the 8 Tracks separately via USB. I’m making 80% of my drums w/ Digitakt now. I even use it for the productions which are not meant to be played live (I’m not only producing techno but Hip-Hop as well)
    2. It is the perfect brain for a live setup. You can control every parameter on your synth and automate it in advance. The 8 drum tracks are way enough for a live track. and w/ Overbridge you are able to save a Pattern on your computer and when you come back from your live set you’re able to plug it in and tell the machine to get everything back the way it was before.
    3. There is some menu diving and a little learning curve, but the moment you really understand this machine and its menu (it took me about 4 weeks) you can play it like an instrument. I already did some live gigs with real instrumentalists (I made the drums & fx sounds) and it worked fine.
    4. Because it’s a sampler it can do so much more than just a drum machine. During my Hip Hop Productions I’m often making the melodies and the fx sounds with my digitakt.

I don’t speak German, and thought this was a FANTASTIC review! (and I’ve watched MANY in English) Why all the negatives?? This guy knows his stuff in a musical way. Great job, Stimming!

    Wundervoll gemacht

    Stimming, du bist der Knaller.

  35. Jonas Foged Kristensen on July 22, 2020 at 8:30 pm

Super cool review – but a lot has happened in 4 months, would be cool to see a short revisited video, maybe when the overbridge software is out and about for real?

  36. Klaas J on July 22, 2020 at 8:31 pm

so this drum machine makes german voice sounds?

  37. Mar Habrine on July 22, 2020 at 8:31 pm

Any update on the Digitakt being able to receive chords from a keyboard? Was this successfully included in their recent firmware update?

  38. Manuel Walter on July 22, 2020 at 8:32 pm

This is just a hipster toy compared to the fat sound of most hardware from the 80s.

  49. theinvisibleman on July 22, 2020 at 8:47 pm

What i find strange is why not use a higher bit rate and sample rate? 16bit 48khz is so 1990’s
