For this list, we’ll be looking at the games that offered the most rewarding and investing romance options and subplots for players. We won’t be including dating sims in this particular list, as the whole point those revolves around pursuing your true love above all else. These are more like awesome, lovey-dovey distractions. Wow, can’t believe they didn’t include Riddle school in this list. Smiley and Phil Eggtree are sooo cute together.
Watch Mojo must have a dart board for every one of these top 10s. Skyrim ‘romance.’ Ugh. Got the Witcher wrong, brutally underrated Mass Effect, and left off Baldur’s Gate 2. Characters like Viconia, Miranda and Tali seal the top spots for BioWare.
How in tf is Dragon Quest VIII not on here?????

From all games mentioned that I played, Liara is my eternal love. We see her grow from a dorky girl to a badass but still super cute and profound woman.
I find myself secluding far more into the virtual. I have gone past fear of dying alone and now am hoping for a relationship simulator. This is the epitome of what can be pathetic but what pride do I have left to care for? It would be interesting and I would wake up and sleep playing it all day. My only regret will be perishing as such a lowly creature when my hopes for myself were once so bright. Now I wrap myself in the darkness of my room and envelope into a story of a game with aspirations to meet a wonderful character that might possibly be programmed to like me. I have chosen this reality over the one that has taken all my dreams and decimated them all over a long period of time. Considering real life as "dead to me" will be a long process of intense self dillusions and building a stronger susceptibility to believing self fabricated false truths.. In the future, (if I have a future) I will slowly and sadly wither away and my heart would have rotted before I passed away. Because I by then would have accepted so much artificially produced emotional encounters it would be stale and lacking of the natural that it would then finally result in a meaningless death and a meaningless life that lived *FOR* meaning instead of living *WITH* meaning. Signing off into the digital world. I hope you folks live better lives than me. I wish you well my fellow gamers.

The romance in Dragon Age Origins is the best IMO. Skyrim romance is very shallow, undeveloped and boring but at least you can still use mods like Kaidan. Dragon Dogma is such an underrated and fun game. I highly recommend it.

Skyrim lol. Might as well put Mount and Blade, they have about the same level of substance when it comes to the "romance." Truth is the list isn’t that long..throw in every Bioware game and The Witcher and you’re just about done.

Okay so, no dating sims. Just every game that uses dating sim style romance to woo NPCs into shallow romances with a couple add on scenes depending on who you choose. The Witcher 3 is by far the best and most true game on this list.

Dragon Quest VIII has better romance with a horse that most of the games you mentioned.
The romance in those games feels so shallow and forced. Even the bromance that is FFXV is better.
