good review, thanks. i got the monk plus on the way and i guess i’ll order Bonus as well. haven’t almost any content on the Bonus so good to find another review that praises them.
Also, yeah, you were right on the different connections. that little amp thing looks interesting, i just might have to get one as well.
Good job. Interesting trio. I have the Monk Plus (which turned into $8.00 in total, shipped… significant increase!) And yeah, they’re great for earbuds. Use them with my iPhone, and of course no "critical listening". But they do for a quick grab with the phone. The adapter for the lightning cable is because there’s no headphone jack on iPhones lately, and indeed the earbuds or iems have to go through the lightning jack. I don’t know if there’s a similar deal with the USB-C adapter and some android phones (?).
Don’t be afaird to say it I’m 61years young and iem’s have shocked me BIG TIME that some of my over ear phones are going back in there boxes in storage…they just can’t compete with iem’s and a half way decent amp!! You can teach a old dog new tricks 😂
Beats are absolutely beat! I don’t know who sux worse, bose, or beats.. Name recognition definitely doesn’t mean quality. It’s sad Dre would put his stamp of approval on overpriced mediocrity.
I would strongly suggest that you do get familiar with chi fi.. Look at your example.. They’ve shown you can get some top notch sound from 20bux. If you grabbed a 25 pair at a Walgreens, or gas station, you get shit. Shit shit. But we know this. But since I discovered what the hell hi res is, earbuds suddenly called iem? When I realized that means in ear reference monitor, not the same as an earbud at all. I learned of it after realizing buying 400dollar Bluetooth sennheisser buds.. Sounded good.. But the volume was a huge issue.. So they went back.. And with the loss of so many headphone Jack’s, hence that stupid dongle you got.. Anyway you need a dac/Amp, or a dap. Basically with out a dac, digital audio converter, and an amp of some kind.. Don’t expect much from any music source. I bought an ifi micro dap.. $600,my 1st iems were 399love em. Then tin p1, sennheisser 6xx, phantom audio magnetic planar over ear
Both were 350 ish, but the tin p1 iems, 130 planar iems.
I’m not sure why you said that you didn’t like iems, things going in your ear canal.. You must find the correct tips for your ears, the seal you get, foam or silicone can make a world of difference. If you’re one to take your music on the go, and picky as hell about fidelity.. It’s a whole new world. If you’re not using it thru a dac or the like, forget it, it’ll never perform to even half an audiophiles expectation.
Fantastic review, I love my Monks and BIE’s. The cable with aluminum on both ends, is a DAC, I have flashed the firmware on mine so I can get 32bit/384KHz rates. I use one as my computer’s sound card now, world of a difference from the on-board sound card of the motherboard. Unfortunately I can’t use them on an iPhone when I flash them, only on Androids. Sound is on the phones are greatly improved, and amplified. Of course if your phone already has a good chip, then this has no use.

Great review…got my Bonus IE set today. They sound great. I don’t notice the issue with the wire when the music is playing.

I’m planning to get the Bonus IE, even though I’ve recently got the Senfer DT6 and BLON BL-03.

I buy a lot of venture cables they are extremely good
I have one of these…. It is really good for the price…. If u want to hear good bass, try acoustune hs1650cu.
Good review! That’s a shame about the IEM’s cable being microphonic.
