Video Games Don't Cause Violent Behavior

Video Games Don't Cause Violent Behavior

Everyone just knows that violence is on the rise, especially among kids. Everyone just knows that violent video games have something to do with it. Except violence isn’t on the rise, as we showed in our “Sky isn’t falling episode”. And there’s really no evidence that video games are the cause of violence anyway. Step away from my video games!

I’m like the most empathetic, sensitive, kind and loving person I personally know, yet I play a lot of Call of Duty—

I’d never dream of hurting anybody in real life. Besides, I play campaign with the storyline and characters. I’m honestly more interested in the plot and character development than spilling blood.

I hate Assholes that ignore the facts that video games turns people violent and leads to killers.
So many people die over video games all the time but facts don’t matter anymore.
It’s bad enough kids are shooting siblings over game controllers.

This is what bugs me about people who blame video games, besides the lack of evidence: 1. Perhaps your child should not be playing a Rated M game to begin with, 2. If you can not differentiate between real life and fiction, perhaps you should not being playing games, 3. Video games are fantasy, pretend, not real.

  27. Dumb man with his baby pics on February 10, 2020 at 4:53 am

  36. Poopy But on February 10, 2020 at 5:04 am

People say video games cause violence as if there was no wars, genocide, or murders before video games. Then there’s also that little fact that in it’s the safest time to be alive.

  37. TheLegendOfHuman#2 on February 10, 2020 at 5:06 am

What about a video game where you start out as the bad guy, then changed to be good, like battlefront 2 story mode, teaches that things aren’t always right and they can be changed

  45. The Populist on February 10, 2020 at 5:19 am

I’d argue it actually inhibits violent behavior, because it provides one with a stress relief to calm themselves down so they don’t shoot up a school. Oh right, I forgot the media loves it when a school shooting happens. Yikes!

  46. Jaya Jaya cat/ 자야 자야 고양이 on February 10, 2020 at 5:20 am

But what if they were testing it wrong? like maybe it’s not right after they play the video game, but as they keep playing for, I don’t know, years and they’re brian took effect. It happened to this guy, he played some violent video games for years and keep saying there was a voice in his head telling him to kill people. He also said that he wants to become a terrorist. My dad was close to his father and he would notice him play violent games, then he would go to my dad and tell how he was hearing a voice in his head. The guy’s father laughs it off like he was just joking, but my dad could see that the guy was serious. Then one day, he got a knife and chased his friend saying that his voice told him to do it. Yall probably might not believe this anyway.

  47. Doobency on February 10, 2020 at 5:20 am

If anything, playing Gta releases all of my anger. It makes it so that I don’t shoot real people.

How long has violence been around? As long as humanity has been around. How long have video games been around? 50 or 60 years.
