On this Episode of You Need This Tool I highlight the use of reusable cable ties, also know as zip ties. Not what you would consider your normal tool but very useful at the least.

you can undo normal zip ties with a pick. Your just paying extra for being lazy……

  8. Jthorr on November 21, 2020 at 9:04 pm

They’re good for stuff you don’t plan on needing SUPER tight, they will start to loosen over time in my experience.

  13. Ray Grooves on November 21, 2020 at 9:12 pm

can you join these ties together to form a chain ? and can you join them to other non releasable zip ties ?

When I travel with my motorcycle on a trailer, my tie down straps always have lots of extra strap after tightening. I normally zig zag the extra strap length sort of like a bow and fasten it to the main strap with a zip tie. I keep plenty of ties in my truck but always wished there was a reusable one that I didn’t have to waste each time I towed. This would be a perfect use as there is no need to cut off the excess tie when all it’s doing is keeping my straps from flying in the wind.

I’ve been looking for something that I can use in place of some of the OE zipties that are reusable. definitely going to pick up a pack of these and throw them in my zip tie organizer.

still is hard to beat the old intolerable freight standard black zipties when you need hundreds of them.

Nissan has been using these for years i musta taken 1500 of them off cars at junkyards. Glad to see someone has made version that looks a little less bulky.

  24. 94Discovery on November 21, 2020 at 9:30 pm

The reusable zip ties are a good idea but are not a safe solution if you place allot of them in a tight place and while reaching to get your new wire guess what there is a big chance that you will have it in your eye i work in the aviation industries and we need to cut flush the ties even we have to add something we cut open everything and add new ties ,just saying ….

  25. Dill Wiggle on November 21, 2020 at 9:31 pm

Yup, zip ties are a MUST in the shop, million uses

  26. Industrial Pallet Worx on November 21, 2020 at 9:31 pm

Get you a zip tie gun as well. The gun will pull the zip tie tight and then cut the end off clean. No more sharp edges to cut yourself on

  31. Camshaft2011 on November 21, 2020 at 9:43 pm

Neat product. I can see these being useful for mock-up, but most people cut the ends off zip ties, which would make them harder to reuse.
