16:31 I can only help but notice Neil Peart on the high score screen and one of the members of Apogee/3D Realms wearing a Rush shirt. Perhaps they were all big Rush fans?
1:49 god, i drove past this EXACT image not two hours ago–I drive past the stadium once or twice a week (I live in a campus apartment near UTA).
Looks like a great place to live. Unfortunately getting an H1B visa is very tricky.
Grate videos !
Very interesting to find out about the tech companies who were based out of Texas. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
You should come to Recife in Brazil and visit our Porto Digital (Brazilian Northeastern technology capital)!
Texas seems like a depressing place tbh😅
You should do an episode or two on some of the great tech companies to come from Maryland! Hunt Valley was home to Microprose and many other tech companies and Bethesda softworks is also here. (Signed a former 90s-00s Texan)
Awesome!!
Those highways are atrocious…
NICE AWES0ME C00L_🍨 VIEW *
I grew up around Carrollton and Farmers Branch near where you live, moved to Houston when I was like 9 and go between Houston and Tomball nowadays.
2:19 wow i live in Austin
Texas and California are amazing states. So similar yet so opposite. I honestly would love living in Texas, based on what I hear. Also that elbow bump is the dumbest thing ever haha. I’ve had it done to me many times. I’d rather just wave to be honest lol
Lol Silicon Valley is no more they’re going to Texas now. So Texas might now go blue! Let’s just hope California doesn’t go red
Awesome! This is like the mr Rogers of tech! Very interesting.
One of the best series of Texas tech history that is non dramatic in tone. Thanks so much! I know this wasn’t a popular series but I have watched it 3 times now. Thanks for all of the hard work on this series.
8-Bit Guy: Texas is home of great tech too!
Me: Oh really?
8-Bit Guy: Texas Instruments
Me: *balls up in corner for feeling stupid*
of course it’s a rush tshirt
Id software is from Texas, why I am not surprised?
Rush t shirt
I just feel a little better that I am not the only one who enjoys visiting old locations, and companies.
Aww, I miss home. QUAKE CON and MICROCENTER <3
such a wonderful piece of film-making, as an Irish playstation 1 nerd and modern pc gamer (born 87) this fascinates me, so similar with a lot of familiar context but also interestingly different to what I’m used to. Thanks Mr M.
I was born and raised in Texas and also spent most of my life here AND visited Dallas quite a bit when I was younger, but still never seen a lot of this. It’s pretty awesome.
duke nukem is still my favorite game
Love the LGR thrift music lol
This whole series was great … thanks for the tour and info!
Joe has a really cool tshirt!!!!
People don’t realize, but Duke 3D outsold Doom because of the story and main character (Doom had none) when it was first released. Morale of the story: Character and story matter more than tech.
28 mil pathetic come on down to aussie 24 mil
David, you ever been to that Video Game Museum in Frisco, TX?
So proud to call Texas my home ⭐️
Been ordering electronic parts from Mouser since the 1970s. Excellent company, with superb customer service!
I still come back to this series time and again. I know it didn’t pan out as you’d hoped, David, but I just wanted you to know that it resonated with me. Thank you again for all you put into this one.
I never knew the 8bit guy lived so close to me
Unfortunately thrift stores in the US don’t seem to carry many computers any more. I guess they had a hard time disposing old machines. I did find an iMac DV one time.
That guy is awesome
Fascinating! Living in the U.K. always seemed so far away from where the history of a lot of the big name hardware and software was originally produced. Great to see the places, and faces from those exciting times! Thank you for a very entertaining video once again.
The 8 Bit Guy goes on an Away Mission!
Who can forget the sarcasm in Shadow Warrior "Who Want Some WANG?" just before you slice and dice your enemies! and Duke Nukem’s "Come Get Some" Classics! I also played Blake Stone and Major Stryker. Damn you brought ’em all flooding back. all wonderfully entertaining and fun to play. had great repeatability. Just don’t make games like those anymore.
for someone so smart, you probably deserve to get out of texas
2:45 Wind power that failed. "Green energy" should not be the sole source of any states or nations power.
Tech-sas
You can fit Texas in Alaska 2 times
Gordo da perna fina kkkkkkkk
I had no idea 3d was from here! Woah man…..my mind is blown. I was a kid living in Plano at that time and I spent HOURS and HOURS of my life playing Duke 3d. Wow! Thanks man, I recently found your channel and I love it so much!
We have something similar to the high five called the Jane Burn interchange here in the Chicago area
Monuments of Mars! I forgot about that one..
That’s sad that the old Dallas chip fab is nothing more than a car park now 🙁 A part of history just wiped out.
