    You’re doing good stuff man.
also these are basically just the absolute bare bones minimum of what an adult should have in their misc drawer in the kitchen.

make super thick pla for use in hot glue gun

  3. AFatalPapercut on August 7, 2020 at 9:00 pm

I never owned digital calipers before, got some to go with my ender 3 and i have probably used them more than any other tool. Truly convenient and an absolute necessity IMHO.

  4. Andrew Lopez on August 7, 2020 at 9:02 pm

How much does all this cost?

You have an interesting and pleasant style and you deliver a lot of usable information in quick succession with not too much extra useful information, just the right amount. I like how you delve into the engineering decisions and explain all the extra overhead you must know and things you must do, and all the possible gotchas. It is a great for a beginner like me. I am still not sold on 3D printing at the levels that it is being executed. I want to take what is being done now and augment it with all new thinking that has not been seen yet, or I have not seen it yet, and an idea popped into my head as I was typing and not must go research that rabbit hole. What a great time to be learning engineering, electronics, software, CNC, 3D printing, etc. Thanks professor.

Where can i print the robot

  7. eugenco82 on August 7, 2020 at 9:06 pm

    Hi.
What about 3d pen is not necessarily?
When a printing go wrong you can fix with 3d pen.You can use same filament to fix.
What is your opinion about 3d pen?

  8. Nunya Biznis on August 7, 2020 at 9:08 pm

Flush cutter are better than diagonal cutters for many 3DP applications.

Can i get the file of your robot displaying at your video?

  18. elfpimp1 on August 7, 2020 at 9:21 pm

    What is that robot?

  19. Andrew Taylor on August 7, 2020 at 9:21 pm

I don’t know if it is a good idea, more maybe an upgrade to your ideas already mentioned. Rather than simple wire clippers, swing by a model kit store and get a pair of flush cutters. Modelers use them for all sorts of stuff, but for you they leave a perfectly squared off trim at the tip of the filament. Reducing problems. Also needlenose pliers are nice, but if you know anyone in the medical fields, surgical hemostats, both straight and curved types, with hard and soft tips. Easy to get from friendly family members that can get you used ones that can no longer be used for patient care. Those suckers work perfect for us. Another good resource is Dentistry. All the hooks, probes and shaping tools. Great for cleaning up when things go wrong. Scalers are a godsend. Dental also has some neat things like the two, part composite filler glue that doesn’t harden until you shine concentrated UV light at it. Dentists also have special composite tools designed to not stick to plastic resin or glue.

One other tip, that is probably worth a whole video if ever I get ambitious, is paint. Finishing your print. How does paint work?how will it react with which plastics? What paints mix or can touch? Which cannot? Getting the print perfect means your only halfway there. Finishing counts towards the final results.

Amongst all that paraphernalia, I’d also have heat/paint stripping gun handy.

  21. Edison Battery on August 7, 2020 at 9:22 pm

over time nozzles WILL clog. Very frustrating sometimes.
some guitar string slightly thinner than your nozzle diameter. .36 is good.

  22. Michael Bujaki on August 7, 2020 at 9:22 pm

You remembered that you want to have fun stuff to print. There are places online that allow you to design your own products, such as Tinkercad, which can be found on the autocad website.

I will literally fist fight anyone who dislikes this mans videos.

Hi prof. I recently went to a local Maker’s Faire after thinking I might want 3D printer. Well, the bug bit me. I am awaiting a Monospace Select V2. Your videos are fun and educational. Thanks.

A metric tap and die set is also handy to have sometimes. When I got my tarantula, one of the T-nuts didn’t have any threads, and there weren’t any spares, but I had a tap and die set and was able to tap new threads into it. Could also use it to tap threads into your prints.

    3D modeling software
    For ABS – Adequate ventilation
    Tenacity
    Needle files
    Spool holder!
    Flush cutters for removing brims
Needle nose pliers or long tweezers for grabbing that dangly bit off the hot end as the print starts
    Much more filament

  27. Rokkr Morningstar on August 7, 2020 at 9:26 pm

Wow, I am just starting in the world of 3D Printing and I have been watching your videos a lot, even in the old stuff I can find gold like this. Thank you!

  28. Marcus Adams on August 7, 2020 at 9:29 pm

Don’t cut the filament straight across. Cut in an angle. Then, when you’re feeding it in, you only have to get the point in, and the rest will feed itself.

  29. Dale Bergeron on August 7, 2020 at 9:29 pm

Simon is trying to kill your videos. May I recommend naming him Si Man.

  30. POSITRONIUM on August 7, 2020 at 9:30 pm

    You forgot filaments 🤣🤣🤣

  32. A Brit in the Philippines on August 7, 2020 at 9:32 pm

That’s not true, you can use fiber glass resin or XTC-3D for great glass finish results.

  33. Playground dolls on August 7, 2020 at 9:33 pm

Yes You forgot about laptop and programs

  34. paperbottle11 on August 7, 2020 at 9:35 pm

What are those tubes actually called? I don’t know what to call them to find them =) I’ve got a V5 j-head 1.75mm, not sure what I’m looking for though lol. Is it PTFE tubing that we just cut to size?

  36. Александр Болбат on August 7, 2020 at 9:38 pm

Who doesn’t have those? Even if you don’t own a 3D printer, these are basic tools.

  37. Viktar Samuel on August 7, 2020 at 9:40 pm

    Yes

  38. Hazoish ? on August 7, 2020 at 9:43 pm

How do I efficiently remove the base off the main print without tearing and leaving rips of the base on the main print that I have to cut off with my utility knife?

  39. jonespvp 575 on August 7, 2020 at 9:43 pm

Lol had mine for 8 months never needid a nozle

  40. elfpimp1 on August 7, 2020 at 9:43 pm

Full disclosure? I made the scraper first and it took over an hour to take it off, I didn’t have a SCRAPER!! LOL!!

  41. Ray Konold on August 7, 2020 at 9:43 pm

You forgot the blue tape. Or like substance to put on the print bed to keep it nice. And how about hair spray or glue stick to help with adhesion to the bed?

  42. Zagroseckt on August 7, 2020 at 9:45 pm

oh man i’ve had that razor print for years lol 🙂 it’s a must

i broke my line tube on the first day with my 3d printer, i never know that i can buy it, until now

  45. Bjørn Larsen on August 7, 2020 at 9:45 pm

hi 3D Printing Professor, firstly; turn up the heat 🙂 looks freezing over there. Second; some of the people who watch this video, do so because they are curious about other peoples solutions (you know, those Tinkerers). love to see some advanced user thoughts on tools, lifehacks and such. My two cents.
Have a great day and keep up the good work.

  46. Forbidden Wendigo on August 7, 2020 at 9:46 pm

for getting prints off the printer bed i just use a butter knife lol

  47. S. on August 7, 2020 at 9:46 pm

Really? I came here to learn that with a 3D printer I MUST have a pen and a notepaper? And a community? And a youtube subscription..? Come on..

  48. That One Kid on August 7, 2020 at 9:46 pm

Right now I just go to ting but soon I’m getting 3d printer

  49. Akillez99 on August 7, 2020 at 9:48 pm

why is it so cold in that room you can see his breath come out? i thought it was bad to have it cold if you’re 3D printing?
