    @SpareChange, why wasn’t the x95j tested?

  2. T Bone on February 12, 2022 at 5:23 pm

    Nitpick 2021!

  3. Robert Risch on February 12, 2022 at 5:23 pm

Did they have an upscaling contest? I don’t think so. How in the world can you rate TVs based on how a static picture looks? The categories used by Consumer Reports and Rtings are more useful to the average TV viewer who watches OTA TV, streaming and Blu-ray/DVDs mostly, like myself. And there was no transparency in the way they whittled down to the finalists that were actually compared.

    Sony easy win 😎

Good job Shane. You and all the fellas did a nice presentation.

Anyone know if Value Electronics will be stocking Panasonic 4K OLED tv’s again…?

So the X95J didn’t make the cut? Even though it’s lacking in some ways. I wouldn’t actually be surprised it would hold it’s own in some areas in this test. Especially perhaps closest match to the reference BWM monitor.
It would of course lack in black level and have some blooming in the dark test. But I just have this feeling it would do well. At least would have been cool to see. Heck even some of the other budget ones would have been interesting to see.
QN90A gets to be there and it’s not better in any way IMO, except black level over X95J.

Was Sony the only tv brand in the shoot out,🙏😁

So much is made out of the premium A90J and its like. So many videos. Problem is, I dont know anyone anywhere who spends that much on a tv. Im not rich but I have a comfortable life and so are the people I know, so no budget minds around me. Also, they barely touch on how reflective these are. These guys always have such a setup at their houses just for tv that they forget about what most of us have, a room that reflects on tv like these. I will give you an example of how vague they are about some problems. They will say "Oled for dark rooms and LED for bright rooms". Thats it. Yet they will bust out the most detailed and carefully calibrated specs with precision instruments on the good points. I happen to think a lot of people are trying to decide between the x90j and the a80j because of size, cost, picture, and reflection, so I wish one of them would do an honest vid on those. No one is doing videos on reflection from one tv to the other besides a casual word or two, so I wish that was covered more. Finally, is there a light threshold on what a bright room is compared to a dark room? I mean we all have dark rooms at night but is there a light level or description even slightly more detailed than "bright room dark room"?

@SpareChange I have a question, during this test, were the judges able to discern the difference between 4K and 8k? I saw the Sony A90J win the 4K category, and the LG win the 8k, but if the Sony A90J had a shootout with the LG 8K, in terms of resolution, were you able to TRULY tell the difference?

Yes the ShaneCut!!❤🔥❤🔥. Hoping this includes the behind the scenes footage with Bill and Nigel the bartender😂😅🤣

  14. Michael Nguyen on February 12, 2022 at 5:36 pm

Now just imagine if the Panasonic’s Oled were available in the US. It would sweep all awards except maybe losing out on motion to the Sony.

  15. se se on February 12, 2022 at 5:36 pm

A bit surprised Hisense did not win any categories.

  16. Michael Gill on February 12, 2022 at 5:41 pm

    Awesome video Shane. Thanks.

I got the LG G1 over two weeks ago. To my surprise my C8 looked better. Now the G1 is a perfectly fine looking TV that looks better by the day as the colors settle. The first week the colors and light output was harsh. Dynamic contrast a setting I usually like set to high blows out highlights at medium and high settings. The G1 has more color banding than the C8, you have to set smooth gradation to high to look like the C8 low. By setting the gradation so high, sharpness bumped from 15 on my C8 to 22 on the G1 otherwise the image looks soft. The G1 480P upscaling is not as good as the C8. It has more artifacts. 1080P upscaling is about a tie with 720P looking slightly better on the C8. If you have a NAS and encoded all of your movies with DTS audio it won’t work on the G1. Audio codec can’t be played message with some videos playing without sound. The gaming features are better on the G1, but if you have the C9 there’s no reason to upgrade to the G1. The G1 will probably be a downgrade compared to the C9 and I’m considering taking the G1 back and buying the C9 from some liquidation site for $1K less.

I find it weird that qn90a didn’t win in brightness and apl category, it’s better than OLED

  19. Ye-ROC Hawkins on February 12, 2022 at 5:49 pm

The scene in Pan, culminates why I really loath LG OLED for high APL HDR scenes right now…the problem I truly have is the lack of color volume, and it just killing the impact of the scenes. It bleached the sun with white subpixel dilution. At least on my CX…Sony is doing sooo much better at maintaining richer and more pure color and higher volume at those high luminance levels…

Seeing the G1 next to the QN90A just sticks the knife in my heart even more…Bc I miss that color volume and SPD of QLED, minus the distractions in dark scenes. Idk…I just feel like I lost so much HDR impact switching to a LG OLED.

These limited US shootouts lost a lot of appeal since they dont even have the best TV brand there. A Panasonic JZ2000 or JZ1500 should have been shipped in from Europe for this event to get a fair assessment of the world best OLED. Now these events are basically just Sony vs LG every year when in fact Panasonic and Phillips also have great OLEDs.

    Qn90a winss

  22. runany1 on February 12, 2022 at 5:56 pm

Wow that is The Who’s who there as judges. Impressive. I heard the stop the FoMo guy before I saw him. Lol

  23. Mike I on February 12, 2022 at 5:57 pm

Nice editing, thanks! Love the couple people with masks on, like really, you think that’s going to do anything, with 25 people crammed in a room lol?

  24. Robert Dawood on February 12, 2022 at 5:58 pm

Abetter shoutouts more fair and honest, would be putting LCD,led,tv against each other, and have the winner, then putting OLED TV, against each other, and have a winner,at the moment, it’s comparing apples to oranges, lool

  25. James d on February 12, 2022 at 5:59 pm

    Guess I’m getting the Sony…..🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  26. Michael Angst on February 12, 2022 at 6:01 pm

Why test the LG 8K OLED when it 30K?? Nobody is going to buy it

  27. Craig Osterberg on February 12, 2022 at 6:02 pm

  29. ABEA Christine on February 12, 2022 at 6:04 pm

Should be the OLED Reference Monitor… Not the LED one

  30. Big Ed on February 12, 2022 at 6:04 pm

So it makes sense that the most expensive 4 k TV won

  31. Roger Halt on February 12, 2022 at 6:09 pm

Great job on condensing it all down, Sony have smashed this year again!

  32. whiteandnerdytuba on February 12, 2022 at 6:11 pm

Seems like you forgot to cover the 8k event in this super cut. Too short

  33. a c on February 12, 2022 at 6:13 pm

B what’s the name of your black shoes at Macy’s. ?

  34. Big Ed on February 12, 2022 at 6:14 pm

I think having an OLED category as well as an LCD category would be better.
