Apple loves to praise themselves by saying how eco friendly their products are in manufacturing, which is all well and good. But when they actively try to replace instead of repair, that nullifies any thoughts of eco friendliness. Manufacturing a new device has a way bigger carbon footprint than basically any repair. Because of this practice, they shouldn’t be allowed to call themselves eco friendly.

The problem people don’t really see is that the courts and governments ALL manipulate the English language to get their way. THAT’S how Apple is getting away with this. They are simple piggy backing on an already existing government ploy. This is why the governments are cooperating so easily.
You can sue Apple all you want, but it will go nowhere BECAUSE of language manipulation. Apple is nothing more than a symptom of a larger problem. A symptom that’s hard to ignore. I agree this is horse shit. This is actually similar to BMW, even the really old ones. I had a cluster go out in a 2001 330Ci, and it required, not only a FACTORY SEALED BRAND NEW cluster to be installed. No, thats not enough, it had to be INSTALLED AND PROGRAMMED by a BMW DEALER to work with some kind of chip that only BMW CORPORATE provided or else it wouldn’t work at all. If your cluster went out, it would be literally impossible to repair yourself even if you bought a factory cluster brand new directly from BMW themselves. You HAVE to get it programmed by an authorized BMW dealer.
Ill doubt, that Apple will win in Norway. The EU want to get rid the planned obsolescence "effect" from the electronic market. They want to make sure, that the owner is able to repair his/her device at home(get back the changeable batteries in example). Its in the progress, but unfortunetly its progressing slow(currently the main focus is on to get rid the diesel/benzin powered vehicles).

Thanks for this video. This continues to be an important issue. I would assume it is possible to get a refurbished part that is better than the original, as is possible with automotive parts. They engineer a device and parts to be within a tolerance, and price range, and then select which manufacturer to use. Sometimes two devices with same retail packaging and device Id can have different parts used. The consumer has no way to confirm which one they are purchasing new . At least with a refurbisher, a customer has an option,.
