CAP METRO SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED! The drivers are not allowed to call 911, can’t fight back and must do what these homeless tell them. The priority for Cap Metro is to not disturb the homeless! Drivers are not allowed to defend themselves!!! CAP METRO SHOULD BE SUED! I spoke to a driver! The priority button is worthless. They often never respond and if they do respond they take 2-3 hours to answer the phone. But who arrives if this is happening to you? There is a reason they don’t track response calls! Why do they need their own police? Why can’t they just hire the normal police?!! These drivers are being hung out! The drivers are not ‘trained’ on the priority button! They are told to not call 911 and to not defend themselves. They are told to press the priority button! That is the extent of the training! Plus those buttons don’t work on some of the buses!

No One is Safe Anymore. This is Horrible, and Bus Drivers and Passengers have to put up with the Homeless too? I am a Commuter too, but I hate riding the Bus.

Closing the door on the dog was wrong of her. No matter what happened before it was the wrong thing to do.

I feel like many people are acting out but are yoked up when it comes to actual violence. Sure, there’s more shootings than ever. But petty violence is few and far between, just a bunch of unhappy people seeking justice in petty ways from people who can’t actually give it to them. These bus drivers have to deal with so much crap it’s unbelievable. I wont even ride the bus anymore because it’s insanity between the mask enforcement and the random public outcry. I just ride my bike now, that’s it.

It is a government run system, what do you think would happen? Something good?

And companies wonder why there’s an employee shortage

  9. Austin White on February 20, 2022 at 10:12 am

Bus operators must be able to use all available resources in this situation. The City Council in Austin has to stop assuming that Austin is the #1 city in the world amd start facing reality. Such assault of any kind is a 3rd Degree Felony in Texas and should be treated as such.

Suspended for what?! Wow another corrupt Texas system penalizing those who service our community shame on you for suspending her for doing her job. Good luck finding bus drivers to put up with that crap.
She shouldn’t have had to go through that just to be reimbursed what Cap Metro tried taking from her. CM should be trying to improve our community and make it a safer place for everybody

  12. nunyabizness on February 20, 2022 at 10:16 am

As a rider, this is INFURIATING. I see people abuse drivers almost daily. She had no other recourse but to call cops, so shame on CM for that ludicrous response.

I often see drivers think twice about stopping for people they know to be problematic, and they end up paying the price when they decide to allow them on (actually everyone on the bus pays the price). I wish for her sake she had gone with her gut and driven right past him. I’m not sure why she ended up stopping, but my guess is she’ll regret that decision for a long time.

This is why we need strong unions.

This is one reason why I drive my car instead of taking public transportation. I stay away from people as much as I can. There are a lot of unstable people out there as well as bad people.

wtf. she should get a raise for trying to de-escalate

  16. Jungle~Bunny on February 20, 2022 at 10:28 am

Cops get paid suspensions but not the bus driver who was simply trying to get help

She did press the button, she also called 911. There’s nothing wrong with this.
