Great video. I’ve been looking into something that I can upgrade my existing Windows 7 editing setup to, but it seems that all the motherboards I have found require Windows 10. Does this setup too? Did last years build also require windows 10?

Hi Matt! Hope you see this. Had a question. I’m building a new PC after 4/5 years. Getting a Ryzen 2600x with a 1660 6GB and 16GB of ram. Would that be ideal for smooth editing for 1080p 60fps gaming footage? Thanks a bunch. Love your tutorials btw.

Did this exact build like 6 months ago and been upgrading parts when can afford it. Just got an rtx 2060 super 3 fans. wish I hadn’t cheaped out on the m.2 ssd. Originally got a 250 gig and only have 10 gigs left. Just ordered a 1tb Samsung ssd nvm plus and a nvm usb nvm enclosure, gonna clone my ssd to the new one and make it my boot ssd. I noticed the pins are different on the budget ssd and the new one. Before I ordered I came back to this video to look at the upgraded parts and the pins on both were different so I figured you know your stuff and different pinned m.2s fit in the motherboard, correct?

Matt, what kind of media drive do you recommend, as in external mass storage? Coming from a guy who has only previously used USB & Firewire drives…yeah, I’m out of the game.

  34. Michael B on February 14, 2020 at 5:12 am

Hey Matt – Built an MSi following your tutorials. Fun 🙂 However, I’m experiencing unacceptable lag loading/viewing 4K video off the camera after connecting my Panasonic G85 to Windows 10 machine via USB. I’m shooting 4K 24fps – this new PC’s hardware is way better than my 2012 Macbook Pro and yet the much older Mac instantly loads thumbnails and even plays smooth footage right off the camera. Before I buy an SD card reader, I wonder if you have any suggestions for file management with high res footage and PC’s. Was using Windows File Explorer and then Adobe Bridge – both are slow as mud (and the latter isn’t even loading a thumbnail) Workflow tips PLEASE!! Thanks for the build video

Hi can I ask how about i3 9100f , rx 580 4gb and 16 gb ram is it a good build for 1080p video editing?

  36. Ba'al Busters on February 14, 2020 at 5:18 am

Matt or Matt’s smart friends–Help. I’m not 100% sure what I need. I’m a bit Autistic, so when I get paralysis-by-analysis I get stuck for a long time and frustrated beyond anyone’s concept of what Hell may be like. I’m about to pull the trigger on an HP Pavilion Desktop Computer, Intel Core i7-8700, 12GB RAM, 1TB Hard Drive, Windows 10 (590-p0070) I have no idea if I’ll be able to edit 4K on this comp, but more importantly, I need many USB ports for mics, cameras, etc. for music and video production. I’m not a gamer. I want to make higher quality, professional videos. You can see my videos up until now. I am still learning the ropes. The content quality is there, but my technical prowess has much room for improvement.
Now that I’ve seen this video it makes me want to order my own parts and put my own tower together. Maybe my HP has room for expansion. Do you need to solder any of these parts when you build your own computer? That may be a deal breaker.

    Hi Matt,
Awesome video! Short and simple, makes me want to start building my new pc immediately.
Quick question: are there any motherboards that still have IEEE 1394 port aka Firewire?
Everyone is gone now digital, I know, but I also have my old Canon HV30 camcorder that uses mindv tapes.
    Any ideas?
    Your help much appreciated!
    Thanks
