California vs Texas: Salaries and Taxes (2020)

California vs Texas: Salaries and Taxes (2020)

California vs Texas in Salaries and Taxes.

While California has one of the highest state income taxes in the

whole nation, Texas has no state income tax. Before making any

conclusions, we need to remember that Texas has a Federal

minimum wage, while California is about to hit $15/hr in the next

few years. Also there is a huge difference in property prices and

price of a gallon of gas. Watch the video to see detailed

comparison.

Compared to CA, TX state workers paid way less than CA state workers. For example, SF police makes over $100k a yr while TX police makes $50k a yr. If retire and medical benefits are considered, there is no comparison between CA and TX.

Texas has one of the highest property tax rates going and they continually raise property taxes when they need more money.
In other words they use our homes as they’re cash cow. Forcing us to pay property taxes or lose your home. OUT OF CONTROL this country has become a cesspool.

  9. ozkan cil on June 16, 2022 at 4:06 am

What if you rent a place in texas and do business from it but live in VA, then I wont pay no property tax right? And in VA things are cheaper, so its a win win:D

I was blessed to have lived in both states,Texas my home state and California,my adopted state. After my Navy tour ended I went back home to live in Texas, and looking for work let alone finding a job was exhausting and to No Avail! So I forced myself to join the Naval Reserve as a weekend warrior, not enough, including food stamps still not enough. Three years went by and still no job. So I packed up and moved to San Francisco, and never looked back after that. I had to force myself to retire because of cancer. So I moved back home to Texas, I got my government pension and I get SS. And that’s all she rode. I much rather live in California than in Texas, I miss medical marijuana and the climate and good food and the diversity. Texas is a oppressive Red State,if you understand politics.

The problem with your comparison is somebody working the same job in California will be paid a higher wage due to higher cost of living and somebody working that same job in Texas will be paid a lower wage, because everything it dirty cheap in Texas, so it’s not an apples-to-apples.

  22. Thomas Kim on June 16, 2022 at 4:21 am

The car insurance in TX is much higher than in CA. Also, the less state tax means less money for the state government and hence less government service. For example, University of California is consider much better than University of Texas. Why? More funding from California state than Texas. If you have kids that are smart, stick to California to get in state tuition at highly regarded University of California.

We live in Northern California between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe. Our housing costs are about the same as Austin. So Texas property taxes can amount to as much as California income plus property taxes. This is especially the case if you have lived in your home for a long time as prop 13 keeps property taxes from increasing rapidly in California.

  31. Jonathan Modisette on June 16, 2022 at 4:31 am

I live in Austin and my home income is right at 110K and I can assure you NOBODY can live in the suburbs of Austin at 50K. Possibly the trailer parks on Wells Branch.

I live in Plano Texas. My property taxes are about 7k per year. I’m fine with it because we get a lot for our tax money. Excellent schools, roads are well maintained, city services are fantastic. I could go on.

  40. jack frost on June 16, 2022 at 4:40 am

Texas has the third highest property taxes in the country. I pay $9520.00 north of Dallas, the same house in Arizonia would have a property tax of 3k or less. Texas is not cheap.
