I’ve spent my entire life in San Antonio. As the years progressed, so did the downtown area. The shops and restaurants on each of the river which would end up leading to the Mall. Everything was changing with the exception of the stench of the river water. Leaves cluttered the surface area of the water. Year after year the City fails to install airiation systems to pump air back into the river. Install skimmer baskets on back of boats to collect leaves and debris. OK City Council, find a better way!

I, with my family greatly enjoyed the area when on vacation. Had great food at the Original. Tasty, but fiery the next day.

All the rivers in our country need to be cleaned out and respected, by idiots not throwing their garbage in streams and rivers.

How is the smell of the 23 million gallons of raw sewage SAWS got caught dumping and sued $16,000,000 for… they ruined the river back in the mid 80’s ,I remember how it was and it’s disgusting now compared to then

The Justice Department, on behalf of EPA, filed a complaint against SAWS alleging that between 2006 and 2012, SAWS had approximately 2,200 illegal overflows from its sanitary sewer system that discharged approximately 23 million gallons of raw sewage into local waterways in violation of its CWA discharge permit. The cause of these overflows stems largely from system capacity problems that result in the sewer system being overwhelmed by rainfall, causing it to discharge untreated sewage combined with storm water into local waterways. EPA confirmed these violations during a 2011 field inspection and record review.
