Some major changes coming to DeSoto ISD after students and a substitute teacher were recorded on video throwing chairs at each other in a classroom.

Im a military brat. When I was in the sixth grade. I had to spend a year in an inner city school in my father’s hometown waiting to rejoin my father in Germany. During that time I realized quickly that the learning environment was nothing like I left behind. I was an average student prior but here I was an A/B student. The curriculum was 2 to 3 years behind where I was. The majority of my classmates had no interest in learning. The ones that did were very smart and my teachers segregated the classroom to focus on us. This was back in the late 70s. Many of those classmates from that period are mere statistics. Teen pregnancies, drug abuse or prison. I was pissed I had to be in this environment. I used my love of football to get my aggression out on the bullies. In a group they thrived. On that football field I ruled. I think the United States Air Force and my dad for that being a one year speed bump versus my reality. Although I was pissed for that one year. My father once told me he hated his hometown and did not want to raise his kids there. I learned from that. My kids have know hood credentials. He did his job. So did I.

I don’t know what started the melee, but the kids who were laughing right after the teacher got hit in the head and was bleeding are heartless animals.
When I was in school, a kid called our history teacher by his first name, and got kicked out of class, and had to write a formal apology. There was a level of respect we not only had for teachers, but all adults. Kids now are being told to speak up for injustice, but also believe that everything is an injustice. This results in a bunch of spoiled brats.

three B L M thugs did that in my school too. broke my biology substitute teachers arm with a chair. she was a small asian woman and was screaming in pain. a few of us held the 3 thugs down until the cops came, took the bass terds away and never saw them again. last i heard, the substitute teached sued the school and retired super rich from the damages. then the school fired the principal and VP, and immediately implemented competence testing for new enrollments. it’s been an excellent school since.
