I took a trip to Texas, while there I wanted to pickup some games! Thanks to my buddy Chip Senkbeil, I got that chance. This footage was shot in October 2016.
There’s one in San Antonio
I get really excited seeing a lot of things I want in your video but I then realize that I can’t get any of the stuff there because I live no where near that game store and I get sad. Around where I live there’s not too many good items 🙁 I only remember seeing a SEGA Genesis Model II with a SEGA 32X and a SEGA CD a LONG time ago at a local video game store and I only saw it once. I begged my parents for it but I never got it. I now have a Dreamcast, Model I, Model II, and I ordered a 32X on Sunday.
No kangaroos in… in….
dammit my OCD is kicking in, I need to know where there are no kangaroos !!
Which Game Over location was this?
can you do a console based series on the 2nd generation of consoles??
I have shopped all 3 Game Over locations in Houston over the last few years. They usually have terrible overpricing or stuff I already own. I’d recommend Gamesplus (much better selection and prices) and buying online. You’ll save way more. Plus the whole non-refund policy is bullshit on defective items.
the Mech game is possibly a review copy? Back when I worked for a kid’s TV show we’d often get very similarly packaged PS3 games to review.
they’re also in Seattle / Bellevue WA, oh you said that.
I wouldn’t support this company. I purchased some stuff that was at a really great price. After a few days, I got a call from a manager asking for me to return said items because they were underpriced! If I wanted to keep these items, I had to pay the difference or they were going to seek legal action. I said no, I just wanted my money back. I then had to fight for that too, because they told me they do not do cash returns! I will never patron that company again!
I have to go to the game over in Houston now
You bringing up "Scott the Canadian" , idk if you saw but like 2ish episodes back on the Philip Defranco shop he gave away an Xbox One S and BAM Scott the canadian’s photo and name popup, I was blown away I had heard of the winner and even more it was him ( Defranco has like 5million subscribers too, so he was lucky lucky)
as a fan who lives outside of austin i will say i will definitely be going there soon, saw some absolute gems….chrono trigger CIB and also saw final fantasy 9 in the case! great stuff
oh man seeing the san marcos location up there makes me sad since it closed a few years ago
I, too, separate my greatest hits editions from original releases.
Always takin’ shots at "clone" consoles! I LOVE my clone consoles!!! I have the real ones…but they are old and worn out. I can’t picture Nintendo making "legacy" consoles, because fans would ACTUALLY be happy.
I rather enjoy the game shop tours.
I have one of those not for resale games in a paper sleeve for Crimson Skies. Also can’t find any information as to its origin.
The Mechassault you got was included with the Xbox live package that you could purchase at retail locations. It was part of the push to get people to sign up for Xbox Live back in the early days. I know this because I have the same one you got and I got that when I purchased a brand new Xbox Live kit from Walmart.
Nice game shop I like that little gaming museum very cool.
What I like about your channel is you concentrate on games. Keep up the great work! I go to the game over stores in Houston a lot. Great places! I believe the Vectrex I bought from a guy who was visiting from Austin came from this exact game over a couple years ago. 🙂
dude could’ve printed some box art instead of just crappy marker

That mech assault is from the "version 2" Xbox live kit supplied to the press and some retailers. It was given to said parties in advance of Xbox live’s launch. I myself have the version 1, European version which came with a headset, some sort of promotional Xbox disc, a copy of Mech Assault and a few small bits and bobs. Will try and find mine and send pics at some point.
i love Game Over !! Texas rep
Imagine tripping on this place.
The last time I was in Austin, I tried to visit their store that was in a mall on the Northwestern side of town. They were closed and were moving.
The store is great!
I remember there being an Xbox Live starter kit including a copy of mechassault and a microphone, so that might be from it
Do a Room Tour. I think it will give us a different and in depth look at the gamer behind the camera. It will also be another topic to keep in touch with us with like videos every month about updates and changes to your setup.
The YouTube algorithm doing its work and showing me this video 5 years late. This is my local store! Used to do a lot of business there around the time you shot this, got to know some of the employees well, but I’m sad to say that they’ve gone down the tubes in recent years. I went in there just last week funnily enough, it was woeful. Absolutely barebones selection, virtually no (first party) accessories, insulting prices ($200 for Silent Hill 3 with crappy reprinted artwork, $200 for Parasite Eve II, $150 for Parappa the Rapper, for example) and was sadly just a really depressing experience compared to what was seen on this video.
Glad you had a good time in Texas at least!
I would love to go to this store so bad.
that is a cool store!
cool video tech talk adam
Adam, will you camp out for an NES Classic Console today? d0;
Adam, have you thought about just boxing some stuff up and shipping it home in the middle of your trip???
Sorry about that cold also game overs my favorite
I live in Texas and I always shop at gameover for retro stuff that I can’t get from get from gamestop
The south Lamar best
Thanks Adam for grabbing me some sweet Dreamcast games on your trip to Texas!
great video one of my favorite game stores
Eight years ago, this store used to be the bomb.
Nowadays, its meh. I recommend
Replay Games if you drop by to Houston,TX .
Better deals, better selection, and more
stock inventory than GameOverVideoGames.
I just enabled notifications. It’s a shame they were not on until now. Keep up the good work!
That MechAssault version came with an Xbox Live bundle. There was a Crimson Skies one as well.
Awesome video Adam! That game store is setup really nicely. I also like how they have a museum and they separate the sports and greatest hits games.
you know that store prices were super HIGH lol lotz of cool stuff i agree but poor collectors go to garage sales 😎🤘🏼
I’ve been to the one of the ones in Houston a few times. The staff are great, and the store is nicely laid out and has a massive inventory, but not much in the way of appealing games. The good games that they do have are pretty overpriced- much more so than on eBay for example. I’ve only ever bought PS2 and Xbox games there as at least those are reasonable. In the back of the store they have a really cool museum-like display of about 25-40 different consoles spanning across all of gaming history.
There’s one in Houston too.
I’ve seen numerous other similar releases which were given as promos. Either for website/magazine reviewing purposes, or for as competition gifts.
As for that famicom clone you saw, there were two revisions. One with almost full famicom hardware, which was 100% compatible Japanese games, and a later one with all in one chip, which had poor compatibility and numerous issues.
The first variation is the rarest and hardest to find.
dude could’ve printed some box art instead of just crappy marker
Adam. You sound like a completely different person when doing these type of videos compared to your normal sit down videos. 🤔 just an observation. Cool video though as ever 👍🏻
Hey Adam! Great video bro. Wanted to confirm for you that Mech Assault cardboard sleeve game you have was definitely from a Xbox live bundle kit. It was from one of the first iteration’s of Xbox Live back in the day I actually have that same game with sleeve. I believe if memory serves it came in a bigger cardboard box that included the game and a headset and I believe like a month or 3 month membership to live. I remember that Mech assault was on the first games on Xbox live that was "big" that is until Halo 2 came out and changed online console gaming forever and since Halo 1 wasn’t online capable.
After working for that company for around 8 months, they are the retro version of gamestop. completely unfair trade in prices, it mad me sick to work there.
