GameStop What Happened to EB Games

This has easily been one of my most requested videos. So finally after a lot of research, here it is. What happened to EB Games? The company everyone holds in such high regard. Sorry the new lens was a bit focus happy.

I was an EB Games store manager in California. It was the funnest job I ever had! Customers loved us because we had very high customer service standards. EB required sales training certification and invested in their employees. When Game Stop bought us out it was all over. Game Stop reduced assistant managers to minimum wage, removed our dress code, hired virtually anyone and took customers for granted. We were degraded. I quit and so did my whole staff with me. I miss EB and I know our wonderful customers do too.

You know, I wish there was a LameStop in Australia, because at EB a pre owned ps4 is $298. At GameStop, one is $259, both 500GB. A 1TB is not even $298 at GameStop. A ps4 with 3 games is $259 aswell, EB is a ripoff.

  24. NiteOwl on May 2, 2020 at 3:55 pm

great video mate but one little correction. the Australian eb games don’t have 4 cards, we have one card with 4 levels. the card gives a lot of bonuses like holding pre-orders for longer and trade in bonuses and the higher the level the bigger the bonus. it is free to get a level one card, you then need to buy stuff to level up the card. every time you buy an item you earn 1 carrot for every dollar you spend, when you reach a set amount of carrots you go up a level. it is a really good system to reward regulars and make them feel appreciated. our eb games actually don’t want to rip off the customers as GameStop does, they trade fairly and earn their customers the right way. I have never felt played walking into EB games and actually almost always had a great experience.

  25. SebbeF on May 2, 2020 at 3:56 pm

EB Games was so much better than GameStop is today back in early 2000’s.
Bigger stores, more airy overall, guide sections, Warhammer sections and magazines to pick up with what games to buy.
At least how it was in Sweden, you felt excitement unlike GameStop with their caught in the cage feeling.

  26. Lightning Studios on May 2, 2020 at 3:58 pm

  34. LordTachanka on May 2, 2020 at 4:14 pm
