How Hong Kong Protesters Evade Surveillance With Tech | WSJ

Protesters in Hong Kong fear they are being monitored by the local government and potentially by China, a country at the cutting edge of mass surveillance. So demonstrators have developed hacks to avoid arrest and hide their digital tracks.

Can cameras see at night when there is no light? Like how effective is Infrared or night vision actually picking out a face or eyes? And what elrcentage of cameras have them and how do you tell them apart?

To be honest I am curious why Hong Kong keep protesting? Literally Hong Kong does not same as other cities like Catalonia. Although I hope other western countries could get involved it and help them. The truth is China government have there military base on Hong Kong. We couldn’t separate China without declare war to China government? So which country could volunteer claim a war??

Hong Kong ain’t China. I feel for Hong Kongers fighting for there freedom. Imagine if the US had surveillance that tracked every citizen and paired it with their distain for the government. There would be a civil war.

Foil on RFID does not really work. the RFID (radio frequency ID) has different frequencies. The one embedded on ID carders are LOW-frequency IDs, meaning that it can’t be scanned unless within 0.5 ft, same technology as lift check in a ski resort. The medium/high frequency RFIDs are used with larger proximity, similar to EZpass in the US (called ETC in China).
