I use the green mat with all material. I sometimes use adhesive spray on it. It always sticks. I’ve not had any material slide. I hope this helps someone.

If you do have a deep cut blade, does the settings change?

  3. Angela M on May 4, 2020 at 3:44 pm

I used transfer tape to stick the material to my purple mat, and taped it down and it still slides around when cutting. Any suggestions?
I’m rewatching and maybe need to try the felt setting?

  12. Stephanie Fernandez on May 4, 2020 at 3:55 pm

I put down the dt "transfer tape" first so nothing sticks to my mat & also tape it down. Works like a charm every time 😉

  13. Monica Reyes on May 4, 2020 at 3:55 pm

Does it work with genuine leather?

  16. Christy Hughes on May 4, 2020 at 3:59 pm

Thank you at much! I was told the Air 2 couldn’t cut faux leather and I would have to buy the maker. I’m so excited now!!

  17. Ann Neville Design on May 4, 2020 at 4:00 pm

All the details were so helpful! Thank you so much!

  18. G Prewett on May 4, 2020 at 4:02 pm

This was so helpful! I tried the thicker faux leather in light pink from Hobby Lobby, and my Cricut made a mess of the earrings! Can’t wait to try again on the Felt, Wool Bonded setting. So happy I will be able to cut this thicker faux leather now. Thank you!

  19. casey dalton on May 4, 2020 at 4:06 pm

i have been having trouble making these. i have tried everything that people have suggested. heat n bond, contact paper, etc. I just tried this and it still isnt working for me with the thicker leather. My mat is the purple one. It is used. i just dont have the money to go and buy another mat right now. Would washing the mat and spraying some krylon easy tack on it work?

  20. Dusty Buchanan on May 4, 2020 at 4:06 pm

I have a question i used my purple mate and made one set of earrings yeah!! But now i cant not get any more of the faux leather to stick to the purple mat am i doing something worng?

  21. bessie4455 on May 4, 2020 at 4:07 pm

  22. Patricia Collins on May 4, 2020 at 4:10 pm

  23. xolovelybee on May 4, 2020 at 4:10 pm

    FINALLLYYYY!!!

I HAVE LITERALLY WATCHED 5 MILLION YOUTUBE VIDEOS, READ 74 BLOGS, RESEARCHED MY 9 CRICUT FB GROUPS, GOOGLED 9 BILLION 872 DIFFERENT WAYS TO ASK AND HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO CUT ANY OF MY FAUX LEATHER PROPERLY… UNTIL NOW!!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE AMAZING TUTORIAL. (ok I’m done shouting now, lol!) but seriously, thank you for being so detailed but yet straight to the point at explaining everything.

another issue I have though is my actual genuine leather. my boyfriend bought a bunch of leather scraps off amazon because they’re not as flimsy as the faux leather but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to cut it. have you had any luck with genuine leather? 🙁

  24. Sharla L. on May 4, 2020 at 4:11 pm

Tried everything exactly, and wont cut through my chunky glitter like yours.

  25. kelsi clark19 on May 4, 2020 at 4:11 pm

I have the purple Matt and it still won’t stick brand new

  26. Danielle Pitchford on May 4, 2020 at 4:11 pm

What did you set your dial to on your machine? The dial above where the load/unload and Cricut button are.

  27. Cheryl chavez on May 4, 2020 at 4:12 pm

Hi Crystal, I’m very new to the Cricut world and want to try these earrings; what do you use to punch a hole to add the earring hook and can you add one to have the cricut cut the hole? Thank you

  28. Lauren Cooley on May 4, 2020 at 4:14 pm

I cannot get my faux leather to stick to my brand new purple mat either!! I bought the same rolls as in the video too.

  29. Kara Martens on May 4, 2020 at 4:14 pm

I HAVE USED MY GREEN MAT MULTIPLE TIMES WITH MY FAUX LEATHER AND IT STILL WORKS LIKE A CHARM.

  30. DH on May 4, 2020 at 4:17 pm

i made earring and i do not like the way they look. They keep flipping to the white side and they feel really light weight. Aslo my cricut machine wouldnt cut through the Faux at all! IDK whats going on. I have the blade the cricut comes with

  31. Kara Martens on May 4, 2020 at 4:17 pm

COULD YOU MAKE A VIDEO ON HOW TO ADD THE ACTUALY EARRING HOOK? THANKS

  32. Valdis Webb on May 4, 2020 at 4:18 pm

Thank you so much for this video! I’ve been wanting a Cricut, for vinyl and iron on… but also wanted to add some leather to my jewelry making… I was on the fence about which Cricut to buy, because I was worried that the faux leather was too thin. But after your video, I’m stoked about the faux leather!

  33. t campbell on May 4, 2020 at 4:18 pm

how do you use it from your phone?!?!?

  34. Brianah Harris on May 4, 2020 at 4:21 pm

My cricut will not cut the hobby lobby faux leather after following this step by step. Any ideas?

  35. Marissa Pentaholic on May 4, 2020 at 4:21 pm

I used a brand new purple mat and the faux leather (rolls that you’re using from hobby lobby) won’t stick on either side. Any suggestions? I just got the Cricut Maker today

Hi Crystal, I have looked at Hobby Lobby, Michael’s and Joanns, I cannot find the The Ribbon Boutique faux leather anywhere! I’ve tried looking online, too but haven’t had any luck there either. Can you help me????

  39. Darlene Knott on May 4, 2020 at 4:32 pm

Thanks, Crystal! Love the detailed instructions about settings!

  40. Patricia Collins on May 4, 2020 at 4:32 pm

What is your dial set on ?

  41. Cara Massoni on May 4, 2020 at 4:34 pm

how do you cut out chucky glitter faux leather with a cricut. What setting do you use? I’m having trouble cutting it out. Im using a new purple mat and it doesnt want to work for me. Ive tried the canvas setting it starts to cut and then it stops working on me. I have a new blade in my cricut explorer air 2.

  42. Kim Fulghum on May 4, 2020 at 4:34 pm

Does anyone know if the faux leather that you use on a silhouette machine can be used on the cricut 2 air

  43. hannahmaried97 on May 4, 2020 at 4:35 pm

Are you just using the normal housing blade?

  44. Ellen Trexler on May 4, 2020 at 4:36 pm

Are you Changing your setting on the machine also? I’m confused please help
