How to repair electronics for dummies part 1

How to repair electronics for dummies part 1

In this episode of how to be a man I go over how to repair electronics. I try to explain it as simple as I can so it is easy to grasp. there is much more to it, but I think this is a good starter class on electronic repair.

This is a great video. The electron stuff I knew from my physics course -and- sometimes you drew out of sight of the camera. Otherwise a great video; clear explanations. Can I echo the "easy to learn, hard to master" comment. As a retired software engineer, we had a saying in the office … the more you learn, the more you realise how little you actually know … I laughed out loud at the Mormon comment.

Pretty soon it will be cost prohibitive for companies to make through hole components. Then it will all be surface mount and beyond. Thats when I see experimenting with electronics die.

You’re perfect! I learned so much with this introduction and the easy of learning path that you took is just perfect for blokes like me! I want to buy a good multimeter for starting out, so I’m considering Fluke 179 or 287.. I really would like your help on getting a good and expensive pick for not only starting out but actually keeping a good multimeter as I progress forward in my repairs. What Fluke would you suggest other than 179? I would like mine to be super precise that I *would not have to buy TWICE.* I have a vitamix as a blender if you know what I mean 🙂 I like to get the sting once and then it’s fun time from there…

As benjamin Franklin said: The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten..

Will appreciate your tip about multimeter lot
    Thank’s – perfect video – subscribed!

Thirty five years ago I earned an associates in applied science, in electronics. I learned the scientific theory of electronics. But not how to really fix anything.

    Voltage=Volume. Amps=Pressure. Resistance=Faucet.
    Makes perfect sense to me.

1:11:52 😂😂😂 great impression, you forgot the " solda," I actually laughed out loud on that one

He’s a very smart guy though and great information.

You are too, will subscribe. The fat guy on the water hose was a great way to help explain transistors in a non super scientific way. All other explanations I have seen are really in depth and complicate it. Helped me understand alot more there.

    I always remembered Ohms Law as “I ohm a VCR.” V=CxR. C=current or I

Great coverage in a short time. what always help me is that most everything has a pn junction but a pnp or npn lol. even then
you can check the two pn juctions . It that when reading from NPN to PNP you are reading through two junctions. Wow I hope
i explained this so you can understand it ?

I don t get the funny fact its almost the same as educating nuclear energy ….you got protons & neutrons….if in the chain of energy who goes round a proton or neutrons get destroyed….the reaction of….(passing the ball ) in the chain ….the reaction accelerates

I so appreciate the effort you take to explain in the simplest form. Communication is always the most difficult part of taking the ignorance of a student into the realm of knowledge and understanding. Teaching is an art.

I appreciate you explaining this . . . I have always been an individual that doesn’t just want to know what something does — I want to know how and why . . . and since I have put together an amplifier kit, and I also have worked trying to improve speaker crossovers . . . and wondering exactly why all the elements of inductors, capacitors, and resistors affect the frequencies and the quality of speaker sound This is getting into understanding how all this works together. So, thank you.

The best voltage demonstration Ive ever seen was a guy arcing a car battery with a wrench and he could eyeball the voltage based on the intensity of the arc. He did it on two different voltage batteries and more voltage (pressure) made a bigger arc.
