Did y’all know these 2 things: 1. Costs more to execute than to incarcerate for life; and 2. On an executed person’s death certificate the cause of death is listed as murder.
Randy Halprin did NOT shoot or injure anyone, yet he was convicted of capital murder under the Law of Parties which means that he can be executed for a crime that another person or persons carried out. He has been sitting on death row in Texas for almost 15 years, even though he never so much as fired a weapon. I can not understand why the hell in such a developed and civilized country as the United States still has a death penalty? This is inhuman and you do not think that for a prisoner it will be more painful to be sentenced to living and living between four walls rather than death? As a native Texan, a life long Republican, a person of faith, I am totally opposed to Capital Punishment. I have a Criminal Justice background. Capital Punishment should not be an option. The incredible number of exonerations of innocents should make all Texans reevaluate Capital Punishment. All prosecutors withholding exculpatory evidence should be charged with a criminal offense. Texas is very primitive when compared to the majority of countries who have eliminated Capital Punishment.
