Imma say this new device called a BFH, or Big Effing Hammer, to get to the second Gold Spot on the Ink Cartridge… LOL….

  2. nottoblame on July 7, 2020 at 7:20 pm

I have been cutting the plastic ‘nose’ off the cartridge using a hacksaw. I’ve been throwing them into a bin until I get enough to try using your muriatic acid and bleach. I also want to try burning them with my ICs. I think the way those heads are made, there are little nozzles that are connected to the ink tank. I think the muriatic acid would be able to eat through to get to the gold.

Nice catch. MELT the plastic around the gold plated printhead gently, holding the cartridge for a few secs over a lighter flame (hold using a pair of pliars or you may get your fingers toasted) and the printhead part seems to pop out using a small flat blade screwdriver.

Is any of the scrapping from computers worth while ? Or is it more of a slightly prosperous Hobby? Enjoyed your Vids Subscribed and will check back for an answer.

  31. Big Jay on July 7, 2020 at 7:46 pm

It’s not a hobby if you’re making money from it.

I found a nice little spot to look for a little bit of gold. if you ever have smaller printers im talking one off of card machines or receipt printers if you look that the blade used to tear the paper there is a white strip im sure its part of the printer but under there is gold aswell as old fax machine’s have longer versions which is nice

Hi Moose. Thanks so much for your videos. I was wondering if you would be able to do one on HP 564 ink cartridge? I think I found some gold on the outside, but I’m waiting for my gold testing kit to test it. Can you provide any info on this or if there is any more inside? Thank you! God bless!

Agree. Age old engineering principle: "when in doubt, use a bigger hammer". Worked for me. Never thought of the rag trick tho lol.
