Is This Gaming Keypad Perfect or Pointless? Razer Tartarus v2

Keypads have some amazing benefits for gaming and professional users who want a more compact setup. But some people think these single handed devices are pointless. We set out to find which one it is and how these keypads have evolved over time. Well the Razer Tartarus v2 with its mecha-membrane switches and Chroma lighting seems to be a perfect solution for FPS games at least but there’s some important limitations too.

The only reason I want one of these is because I’m tired of moving my keyboard from the left of my desk to the middle when I wanna type something and then back the to left when I wanna play a game

  4. Exploration Station on April 2, 2020 at 9:50 am

I used a Nostromo back in the day when I played WoW a shit ton for the easy keybinds.

    No longer use one though

  5. Tiago Conraria on April 2, 2020 at 9:50 am

i find this gamepad a must. the small shift key is no issue at all to me (pretty much the same size as my full keyboard – i have ‘<>’ key between shift and ‘z’). mapped the ESC key to the scroll button, but the scroll it self don’t rly use it, and the profile switch button is my alt. no more wrist pain with this. been using for over a year

  6. Steve West on April 2, 2020 at 9:51 am

I still love my G13. I use it exclusively for gaming at home. No Man’s Sky and X4 Foundations are great with it. X4 just wouldn’t be near as playable without it or a HOTAS (which I don’t have).

  7. EnhancedNightmare on April 2, 2020 at 9:53 am

I’d love that thing for right hand

  8. david pinchbeck on April 2, 2020 at 9:53 am

Love my tarta, upgraded it from the previous version and really like the added buttons. I do put some extra buttons on my mouse than i commonly use in Tarkov too

  9. Tony xxx on April 2, 2020 at 9:56 am

I have this keyboard and I love it
it helps with gaming and it also can be set up into a shootout keyboard for editing softwares

  10. Ben Burton on April 2, 2020 at 9:56 am

when my sidewinder died and they stopped making them so i went with the Belkin n52te. I am still using it after 13 years. it looks like Razor has the same design as belkin but the keys on the belkin are more mechanical i think. less squishy more clicky. the macros work wonders for spamming a rotation in WoW and opening all the menus.

Would be awesome if it was wireless

  12. Awesome Awesomeness on April 2, 2020 at 9:59 am

Can you bind the buttons to new buttons all together like user defined keys or something or does it have to be a key/keystroke

  13. melo star 91 on April 2, 2020 at 10:00 am

IT is 2 big for my hand 🙁

The Tartarus is a god-send for those moving from controller to mnk for the first time. Being able to map AWSD to the thumb stick is a game changer that this video doesn’t give any credit to at all. It’s 100% worth it if you feel held back from getting a pc because you might feel learning keyboard too daunting.

  15. Electro Cute on April 2, 2020 at 10:05 am

Good thing for a mmorpg lover like me lmao

  16. Silent on April 2, 2020 at 10:06 am

Older video, but the orbweaver has had mechanical keys for years. As the owner of a n52,n52te,nostromo & orbweaver. I could never go back to a normal keyboard for gaming.

  17. Hsu Clementime on April 2, 2020 at 10:06 am

The line twists awkwardly when you put it on an Angle

  18. Professor RiXteR on April 2, 2020 at 10:06 am

Try the razor orbweaver same thing but razer green switches, I’ve been using form 2017

  19. Rkid 4 on April 2, 2020 at 10:06 am

Is this compatible with iOS ?

  20. Kyusinx MMORPG on April 2, 2020 at 10:10 am

I only use mine for MMORPGs and can’t play one without it.

  21. E10 Schmid on April 2, 2020 at 10:10 am

What full sized keyboard are you using in this video?

  22. Malignus Totalis on April 2, 2020 at 10:11 am

    Its just pointless 😁

  23. DS 3101 on April 2, 2020 at 10:12 am

    It’s a reskinned Belkin t52e.

  24. Jace Jenkins on April 2, 2020 at 10:13 am

I use this primarily for Arma 3 combined with my Razer Huntsman elite, because ARMA 3 ha like… 1000 key binds… I just find it easier because my playstyle in arma is more of a long range sniper type playstyle…

  25. 鹤鹤 on April 2, 2020 at 10:14 am

    I prefer orbweaver

  26. A.K.A ME on April 2, 2020 at 10:15 am

  27. Radical Mostra on April 2, 2020 at 10:17 am

I love the Power Glove it is sooo bad..

  28. DaMemesAreSoGood on April 2, 2020 at 10:19 am

This could have been good if it wasn’t for razer’s "mecha membrane" switches which tent to be extremely inconsistent.

  29. MrDv8r on April 2, 2020 at 10:25 am

Just wish they made a version with more keys, two more columns right, one more row of small F1 – F6 above and at least 2 more keys for the thumb around the directional keys

  30. Bananex on April 2, 2020 at 10:25 am

    Mine mouse has more keys😂😂

  31. Jesus Padilla on April 2, 2020 at 10:25 am

I still use the V2 Tartarus and the Logitech g502. With the added 3 buttons on my right thumb and 5 buttons on the keypad for my thumb adds a good fast response. But other games like Warzone I would have to use a keyboard. Since there is a more key commands needed I don’t have room. Also the key pad helped a lot because I tend to mash other buttons by mistake on my keyboard and don’t have the reach to go beyond the G column. This makes me hit two buttons at a time and doesn’t help when I panic and try to act fast. But I think it’s a good options for rainbow, apex, CS, and maybe other battlefield games but how i play I don’t use like nades often so I’m ok missing out on some stuff but I might switch back to my keyboard. But overall I love it. It does help and like the idea to have more buttons on my thumbs either on a mouse or something like the keypad.

  32. Sergio Flores on April 2, 2020 at 10:26 am

I have an old version of that. For Gaming it’s very complicated for me, I prefer a Xbox One Controller. But for design it’s like the infinity gauntlet!!!! I use a lot of different software (by a lot, I mean a really a lot) but this magic thing already save me a lot of hours of typing commands or looking in to the UI of the software, I know some software already have shortcuts but for me it’s better to have all of those commands on places assigned for me. Other cool thing it’s the cloud sync, because I can use all my macros on all of my computers

  33. Roxtaf Argilath on April 2, 2020 at 10:29 am

I use mine mostly for wow. i use modifiers in the direction pad so aside from WASD and space (direction down) that gives me 17 x 4 buttons. My mouse has 12 buttons on the side, one is used to auto run, so that leaves me 11 x 4. I have not thus far come across any class that needs more then the sum total of 112 buttons.

  34. keith lai on April 2, 2020 at 10:29 am

  37. The Emo Emu on April 2, 2020 at 10:33 am

Soooo… Razer managed to make a keyboard that is unuseable for lefthanded people? Greeeeeat.

  38. Jordan Merle-hampton on April 2, 2020 at 10:35 am

I’m ordering a razer orbweaver chroma next week on payday. I broke my left pinky years ago and snapped the tendon so it didnt heal properly. This means that when I try use the ASDW keys bunched together on a standard keyboard, then my little finger sticks out and after a few minutes causes a lot of pain. I’m a PC gamer and I usually use an elite controller (just bought the razer wolverine ultimate which is much better imo), but I really want to switch to keyboard and mouse to get that building speed advantage in fortnite. The only way I think this is possible for me is to use one of these keypads and I would love to hear someone talk more in detail about the little Dpad/circle that your thumb rests on. Surely this is one of the main appealing features of this type of product? It’s the main reason I’m buying the orbweaver and I think it gives a huge advantage as your using one thumb to do something that usually takes three or four fingers? In my mind, the freedom this allows does seem to give rise to at least some level of tactical advantage. Why hasn’t anyone recognised the true value of this feature?

  39. Mr.Universe on April 2, 2020 at 10:36 am

They should make an optional strap for these

  40. Ricardo D'Arcivar on April 2, 2020 at 10:36 am

G13 still working after all these years and still the best. Logitech needs to relaunch this already. They are selling for $350 + on Amazon because they are the best. LOGITECH WAKE UP!

  41. Made Indar on April 2, 2020 at 10:37 am

i love it. only one complain, one of the keys tends to stuck when i play FFXIV. and i swear Synapse 3 is one of the most frustrating softwares to deal with

  42. elwachin 42 on April 2, 2020 at 10:39 am

    tartarus gd or tartarus keyboard?xd

  43. Armando C. on April 2, 2020 at 10:39 am

This is a fair assessment and review of the product, thank you.

  44. Suicidal Poptart on April 2, 2020 at 10:40 am

Can i use this along with a keyboard and uae this as a macropad

  45. Matthew on April 2, 2020 at 10:41 am

Had a Nostromo for over five years. Absolutely loved it. It changed how I play games forever. Upgraded to a Tartarus V2 recently with continued fantastic results. It may not be for everyone but since when was that ever a requirement. Game on!

  46. JGD on April 2, 2020 at 10:42 am

Are you fucking nerds get conned into RgB everything I wont understand.

  47. Retrogamer1010 on April 2, 2020 at 10:45 am

I went with a red dragon DITI because I like the traditional left side keyboard layout. The price wasn’t an issue it has more keys and there all familiar.

  48. Honeybeesting on April 2, 2020 at 10:45 am

I’m looking for something like this,. But my set-up is completely wireless. Does anyone know of a wireless keypad with a thumbstick?

  49. Jimmy Haven on April 2, 2020 at 10:47 am

Use a mouse with 3 buttons on the side. Change those 3 buttons to shift, control, and alt. There, you just freed up 3 buttons on the keypad.

  50. The 7th Response on April 2, 2020 at 10:47 am

I still prefer using keyboard because I can instantly switch from gamer mode to trash talking.
