Japanese Retro Game Centers | Tokyo Arcade Experience ★ ONLY in JAPAN
Japanese game centers are must visit places on any trip to Japan, but in Tokyo, there is a place where you can time warp back to the 1980s and 1990s and play those games of the past, too. Since Japan was the leader in arcade game programming and machine production, the culture stretches back decades and those old machines are still in use!
Why do these retro arcade games and game centers still exist in Japan?
In the USA, the arcade culture rapidly declined when the game consoles gained wide popularity, especially in the early 1990s, but in Japan, arcades or game center culture continued because it was more about the experience than the games itself. It was a place to go, hang out with friends, be a hero!
There were many kinds of games from classic arcades to driving simulation games to dancing and rhythm games.
Gamers from the 1980s are not in their 30s, 40s or 50s and they keep coming, playing those games from the past and thats great because it means we can all stop in and experience arcades games like we did as kids.

best episode ever ;D
OMG That moment of nostalgia for John playing that Star Wars game was awesome! hahahahaha
After having seen this before and essentially learning some japanese pronounciation from thia channel.
Watching others place a heavy english accent on this town name does grind me. I may not be able to speak the language but i know properly sounding words and place names impresses locals. They tend to enjoy the effort on even that tiny detail.
Ah this feel nice. I’m not sure if the woman or the arcade that draw me in.
Cool!
Miki doesn’t give a single fuck hahahahaha
Again! This is the second time tonight on this channel I got a mid roll ad that pertained precisely to what was going on in the video right before the ad break. The guy mentions 1986, it cuts to the ad with big bold white letters that read "1980’s" then goes on to say things like, "arcades, massive hair do’s, etc. ITS A PAC-MAN 40th ANNIVERSARY ADVERT!
The previous one like an hour ago he was hitchhiking and on a train talking about the train itself. Cut to mid roll ad and it’s an ad for some company that presumably makes commercial tracking software for trains around the world.
If it wasn’t for the fact that this happened twice tonight, and that it’s been with ads I’ve never seen before on YouTube in the many many quarantine hours/days I’ve spent on here, it probably wouldn’t surprise me as much.
Epilepsy
That girl better be single. Im going to Japan.
Big shout out for Mikado!
Eventhough I play arcade games and still do at Playdium (former Sega City Arcade) in Mississauga, Onatrio and the MAME emulator on my phone, but there are still some games that I never heard, seen, or played before.

Cane here from binge watching high score girl
Disgusting places stinking of cigarettes. Yes, even in 2020 smoking is still allowed in like, all of them. Just gross.
2:26 the cringe just killed me man
2:35 Japanese Guy Reaction Killed me 🤣🤣🤣🤣
That was like pathetic utter cringe
I am still in gaming I am 41 years old Pakistani.
Avid fan of Metal Slug, Marvel Vs. Capcom, Raiden, Strikers, Samurai Showdown and Tekken.
Not just with arcades… Consumer electronics in general were all designed, engineered, and built to last. These days things are not not really meant to last.
I can’t believe it’s been 2 years since this video came out.
lider kim
