Sorry this happened to you. Did you have enough equity in your home to just have "gotten rid of it" to make another purchase/pay off current mortgage with a house buying company? Rhetorical question. Why would you not have just placed the house on market? Houses (at time of this video) were and are selling very quick over asking. To say the least, at asking price. Someone would buy that house, even an investor.

i just moved into a dr horton home in april. i started smelling a burning smell from my ac vents so i turned it off. i fill out an emergency claim and heard nothing from them. i called a local company they came out and found that there were faulty parts in it. a week later, dr horton finally contacted me and then told me i voided my warranty on the hvac by having someone else look at it. the hvac is a carrier which is notorious for being faulty. the local company ordered the new parts and it’s been almost a month of no ac. 90 degrees in my home every day. no eta. dr horton and carrier are both shady, cheap companies. i want to sell my home now.

This woman is use to renting. Metal on metal won’t slide. Once you own a home your responsibility.

I lived in my DR Horton house for 6 months we’ve had a few issues a rise but for the most part have loved every bit of it, the house we got is the Dorset. When we’ve had issues they have been on the ball and very accommodating. I guess it depends where you live because I would definitely recommend DR Horton right now I feel like they built us a beautiful new house that I plan on living in for the next 20+ years. Sorry you’ve had such a different experience then us.

stay away from them. In katy they have Dr horton and Express as the builders in the area. Stay away from DR HORTON. i have had my tankless water heater malfunction, low hot water pressure, both restroom tub faucets running aka leaking water, my toilet seat lid came unscrewed, the wall by the entrance door had a short from all the electrical components, nails coming through walls, incomplete paint job.

    What city and state ?????

  9. Good Gracious! on May 16, 2022 at 9:46 am

D.R. Horton does NOT generally have a good reputation! It’s known in the DMV area to build entire communities very quickly, using substandard materials!

Please be careful with Opendoor and others that buy houses. At closing they will give you less than what was promised.

  11. David Rodgers on May 16, 2022 at 9:52 am

Wow , lady, a decent handy man could fix all that for next to nothing.. you’ll have these problems anywhere

Did you get your own home inspector during the walk through

  13. joseph walls on May 16, 2022 at 9:55 am

Its much easier to spend $25 on a toilet paper holder and install it rather than putting in a work order.

  14. Courtney Whitehead on May 16, 2022 at 9:56 am

Were you able to get rid of the home?

  15. J J on May 16, 2022 at 9:56 am

I need some advices. Please help!

We purchased a new home from DR Horton less than 2 years ago. There have been issues with defective structure in the house and we recently open a few work order repaired tickets under DR Horton website.
Unfortunately, we don’t hear anyone call or respond to the orders. We know that by the law in our state, Arizona is saying the builders will cover for any defective structure repair up to 8 years.
We are asking for an advice and please anyone let me know what we will have to do. Can we look for a lawyer if Dr Horton will never respond to us?

Thank you very much in advance.
    John

I had a DR Horton home with major problems at 2 years old. Kitchen lighting kept shorting, bulbs blew all the time, roof was leaking into master bedroom and master bathroom light fixture. The warranty department had someone look at the roof but it still leaked every time it rained. Drywall on the 1st level was falling apart like we had weekly earthquakes. I sold it off as fast as I could. Beware of buying DR. Horton homes in Georgia.

Your nightmare story seems so simple to fix yourself.

  19. Drumz06 on May 16, 2022 at 10:03 am

Huge rant over kitchen drawers, and broken toilets. you can literally fix that with a couple hundred dollars.. haha wow lady. Gtfo… 😅

  20. Trish V on May 16, 2022 at 10:04 am

Omg. You complained about those issues? Wasted my 5 minutes on your video lol

  21. Melissa Lona on May 16, 2022 at 10:05 am

Where in Houston did you buy your D.R. Horton home? I’m not buying a D.R. Horton but a friend of mine is building a D.R. Horton in humble, tx right now.

  22. Angel Nunez on May 16, 2022 at 10:05 am

If you bought a lower end home (Express series) they i can see why you are having issues.

  23. Billy Davidson on May 16, 2022 at 10:06 am

    Where are you guys from

  24. Faith on May 16, 2022 at 10:09 am

The house is nearly 6 years old; houses aren’t built like they used to be. Just like cars.

  25. Aida Fernando on May 16, 2022 at 10:09 am

All builders has flaws. so many haters with DR Horton.

  26. John J on May 16, 2022 at 10:12 am

Most of the things identified in this video are do-it-yourself maintenance tasks on any house. I have replaced the slide brackets on my drawers from time to time. I replace the innards of my toilets once every 5 years. I have replaced the outlet on my clothes dryer. My garage door usually needs servicing about every 5 years. It is ashamed to put the blame on DR Horton or any builder for these issues. Houses, whether new or used, are not maintenance free. If a person wants maintenance free living, then renting is a better choice than purchasing.

  27. Rene Jenkins on May 16, 2022 at 10:16 am

These are all typical issues for medium to low grade homes. Fixing a drawer is very simple any handyman or homeowner with access to youtube can fix. Come on toilet paper holder that is ridiculous to complain about. A proper built fence is very expensive. New built homes unless you go high end will put in very cheap fencing you have to maintain it. The main issue with garage doors is the spring sometimes they fail they are fairly inexpensive to fix. I have yet to hear something significant like a bad foundation or structural integrity. You need to hire a proper electrician to check the outlet but it sounds like your dryer plug is bad.

  28. Jan Solis on May 16, 2022 at 10:16 am

You always have the option to replace your cabinets and your toilets and the flushing mechanisms. Not sure if this would be DR Horton’s issue, but your own. You’re purchasing a home, not renting one

Any information with Louisiana Dr Homes

  30. JanInJax on May 16, 2022 at 10:17 am

Yikes! We were going down in the morning to sign all the paperwork. This was the reason why we wanted a new home, so we wouldn’t have to worry about all those things. I’m beginning to think that older homes are built better.

  31. Deer Hunter on May 16, 2022 at 10:18 am

Buy a 2/10 warranty instead of a home inspector. Two years on the systems ands 10 years on the structure. Home inspectors pick apart new homes that have just passed all inspections . They all require maintenance

Glad I saw this video I was going to look into buying one

  33. MLP3 Journey on May 16, 2022 at 10:20 am

They are building 60 homes my city its weird… to get to the 200k brand new homes you have to drive through a apaprment complex its the weirdest shit i ever seen

  34. Steven DeHerrera on May 16, 2022 at 10:21 am

I know this is old but wow I was blown away by the level of complaints as I’m looking into a DRH home.
Most builders outsource a lot of the stuff you have issues with. They don’t manufacture toilets and seldom build cabinets. One comment said the hot water heater had issues or the furnace.
Maybe they are cheaper end items but the builder doesn’t up charge for them.
I was worried about foundation issues or scissor jacked walls/doorways framing issues etc… but everything here is cosmetic and an easy self upgrade project thanks for the review.
Also DRH isn’t a lumber yard they buy cedar from a lumber yard that gets it from a mill that gets the tree from… if you don’t stain or finish the wood weather will rot it. The builder isn’t responsible for "cheap wood" idk what that even is.

    Garbage builders

  37. US A on May 16, 2022 at 10:24 am

    This includes a “paid promotion”

  38. Matthew Ussery on May 16, 2022 at 10:25 am

lol. They literally told you a solution and you are just too stubborn to pay $200. There are "upgrades" for every single product in this world. Homes are no different. Sounds like DR Horton has worked with you including giving you a courtesy repair which you think is "whatever".
