I hate to say it but its time to start asking builders., "when buying amps" to just put HG’s in., because you can’t trust any 2879s now… or buy used amps to build a new box with known 2879s

  2. madman2594 on February 19, 2022 at 10:30 am

I have a box with fake 2878s still going strong

I sent it to CA (Galaxy Repair ) and getting the run around there now…….. $550 for amp and shipping so far and over a month waiting………… I wish I’d never seen this Amp or POS Coppers Elec….

Yes, there close but you can just see the contact points are way better than the nock off red dots countries have made me sad for years and years. And yes man back in the day you had a 667 you were the cat’s ass. I have this question you should talk about 12-foot coax why does every coax company produce 18 feet please explain like no other can. You are the best in all my years of driving truck you just get it Thank you, Papa Tony, from Massachusetts. PS Thank you Rocko Foltionville NY

It’s fairly easy to characterize a transistor when it comes in.
You can just make a test plate to qualify each part without soldering it in.
It is an extra time consuming step but…it helps quantify & qualify the devices for matching.

  9. John Hill on February 19, 2022 at 10:39 am

    Is it still for sale

  10. RICK WEIDOW on February 19, 2022 at 10:40 am

Just my luck, I just received my brand new Texas Star Sweet 16 8 pill one day before you posted about the Fake Toshibas. I pulled the cover and guess what I found. I was so happy to see that they were real Toshibas. How could they not be it came straight from Texas Star. Then being one of your fans I just happened to check out your latest post. Now I’m totally depressed. What the F#@k. Mr. BBI if you would like to test my brand new Sweet 16 never connected I will send it to you for comparing between fake and not fake performance. Please let me know if you are interested and I will give you a call. Thanks Rick

When I spoke with the warranty repair tech @ galaxy a few years ago which he turned out to be the nephew of the owner of galaxy and texas star and the originator of Palomar , he the tech, told me they had several several Toshiba transistors for repair and use. He said enough to last a while and this was back in 2017. So I’m sure those guys put back quite a bit but that don’t mean they aren’t all used up like you said.

  19. The Midcoast of Maine, The Way Life Should Be ! on February 19, 2022 at 10:55 am

Greetings from Maine; BBI – you do a wonderful job with the teaching and fireside chats concerning the ethics, integrity and honor of your trade.. I have spent several hours this week, eating my data cap of internet time, in just watching and enjoying your channel !!
I was wondering if you could post an update ..maybe… monthly – ..maybe.. about where the average customer would "sit in que", if they called for a repair, and also, if you could point us, average Joes , to a company or list of companies that you recommend we buy our Amps from?.. again..thank you for, just even taking the time time to read this..you appear to be a very busy man. Cheers from Maine – Semper FI – Whiskey Bravo – Keep the Chow Line Moving

  20. James Vw on February 19, 2022 at 10:55 am

Who cares they are junk even with the real transistors. There is no incentive to use real parts they know the product will be used in a matter the is against the law in most countrys. There is no legit reason for these type of products hams wont use them.

  30. Uncle Quack on February 19, 2022 at 11:07 am

Glad you said this BBI because I was looking to buy a new TX star 350 500 or maybe a 667 ?

  31. Glenn Clark on February 19, 2022 at 11:07 am

Thanks for speaking "truth" it has become almost blasphamy to say anything that causes any discomfort..yet we all know stuffing our junk under the bed and telling your mom you cleaned your room..did not a clean room make..just saying..ignoring somthing does not make it not so

  32. Lisa Ayers on February 19, 2022 at 11:07 am

  33. Scott Miller on February 19, 2022 at 11:09 am

  39. Miguel Salami on February 19, 2022 at 11:14 am

Wish you would have hooked it up & tested its output before you disected the FT to compare it’s output with the HGs. I think the whole entire amp was fake & wasn’t a Real Texas Star Amplifier.

  40. Robert Ramos on February 19, 2022 at 11:14 am

    what is the power differance?

  41. Steve Galloway on February 19, 2022 at 11:15 am

I’m fortunate enough to still have a fully functioning 667, 667v, do 600 dx500 with real Toshiba pills. The 667v is never been tweeked or touched other than bulbs and its 20 years old or more..

  42. bigpimp347 on February 19, 2022 at 11:15 am

    12ft of coax ???
200w on low using his bullshit ‘peak’ watts…

and you clowns lap this bullshit up…..

some of you techs need a lot of educating..

  43. Rondell Schuyler on February 19, 2022 at 11:16 am

Like most businesses over 30 years old, the kids are involved now. The passion for quality is diminishing. All they want is the money. Imo

  44. JimmyJames1978 on February 19, 2022 at 11:17 am

That looks like Wish.com got into the transistor game.

  45. RedNeckGaming on February 19, 2022 at 11:18 am

I saw the fake toshiba video. I’d have loved to see a pair put in a small amp just to see how much power, if any at all, they make. Call it professional curiosity

  46. YT7RR on February 19, 2022 at 11:18 am

Why didn’t you test the transistors in the amplifier for the first time, let’s see what power they have, at least they are "fake", thank you

  47. Gordon Welcher on February 19, 2022 at 11:21 am

I know black is a nice color, but you would see more using a white cloth for the acetone test.

  48. MrSlicer2424 on February 19, 2022 at 11:23 am

Omg!! I think you just saved me $500!!

  49. JimmyJames1978 on February 19, 2022 at 11:25 am

Not surprised AT ALL. They still under build the power delivery and cooling too. I’ll never buy a new mass produced amp. Better off buying a 50 year old amp and waiting a year for BBI to CHOOCH it. With everything the world knows about these amps and the current they require to run WELL, the fact that the factory lets em walk away with undersized power leads AMAZES me. Between that and the undersized fans and heatsinks, knockoff pills shouldn’t surprise ANYONE at this point. There’s a reason guys like BBI stay busy.

  50. JimmyJames1978 on February 19, 2022 at 11:28 am

That whole scenario is just sad. The most F’d part is that we have zero clue how many poor folks spent good money thinking they were getting Toshiba legacy components. No telling how many units were moved before anyone caught on…
