I am disappointed that no one has asked, "They didn’t put in the review if any of the computers could run Crysis." The internet has failed to maintain an old joke.

Back in the days when beards meant intelligence.

  3. Tyree Jordan on October 26, 2020 at 3:41 pm

I feel like £399 is a lot today, let alone in the 80s.

I would be glad to go back, healthier times. Sadly they did not know what they are up against.

  14. Clay Mann on October 26, 2020 at 3:52 pm

Which one of these three should you choose? The Commodore 64 of course is the right answer.

Ahhh, what a good way to demonstrate a computer’s graphical abilities

  17. paulanderson79 on October 26, 2020 at 3:56 pm

1:15 – Amstrad Hifi? Really?? 2:40 – wrong again. The monitor options were colour or green on BLACK.

  18. christian emden on October 26, 2020 at 3:57 pm

My second computer was actually the Armstrad cpc 464. The loading noise of the tape drive was uniquely horrible.

  19. Alexis 48k on October 26, 2020 at 3:59 pm

An unboxing?? What a stupid idea, it will never catch on!

  20. Riz on October 26, 2020 at 4:00 pm

I remember my father buying me and brother amstrad 64, thought we were the luckiest kids in the world.
Would only take 15 mins to load a game! The worst part was the game would crash whilst loading and you would have to start from the beginning again.

Lol each add-on adds 1 point to the tally………

When I was younger, I never imagined the computer industry would change so damn fast, otherwise I would’ve invested in Microsoft, Apple, etc. and I would’ve been a millionaire today. I need to invent a time machine. 🙂 I relied on my touch-typerwriter to get me through school, then suddenly Wordperfect appeared, then Word overtook it, fun times.

  25. derekthesec on October 26, 2020 at 4:09 pm

I was only a few months into the Acorn Electron.

  26. Rachel on October 26, 2020 at 4:11 pm

*_8:25_**_ why is everyone too terrified to show their bulges in the 80’s?_*

When things were made to last, my Amiga 1200 still works to this day. Breath on a PS4/Xbox One and watch it malfunction

  31. Bob Mathews on October 26, 2020 at 4:18 pm

Tony Harris of PCW magazine looks like such a spiv , the Frank Warren of the computer world , wonder if he’s still around , prob running a dodgy used car lot

  32. Joe Oliveira on October 26, 2020 at 4:18 pm

I am still undecided on which to buy…..

  33. hobanagerik on October 26, 2020 at 4:21 pm

0:24 We’re gonna put him really on the spot, as here are some investigators from Operation Yewtree.

  34. J M on October 26, 2020 at 4:21 pm

We had the Amstrad CPC 664 with the colour monitor and built in disk drive and an external tape deck for tape games, not as well known as its 464 brother but still good. Great games in their day (The scout steps out, dizzy island, harrier attack etc) but it was a pain when a game crashed whilst loading and you’d have to rewind the tape and start again.

  35. pearlmax on October 26, 2020 at 4:21 pm

100 pounds of software in the box? Wow, that’s gotta be heavier than the computer itself.

  36. Anarchist86ed on October 26, 2020 at 4:22 pm

To think my gaming laptop would have been the most powerful computer on Earth at that time.

  37. Kcin Platinum Gaming on October 26, 2020 at 4:23 pm

?18 for QL with those horrid micro drives, I take it they did NOT test it properly, buggy was not the word!… I know a lot about computers even back then and I never had a beard lol my dad taught at Manchester Poly in electronics and software in 1980s and he only had mustache why do they assume we all had beards?? … i hated beards lol and a boring pull over from the 1920s 😀 I admit the BBC was a good micro but Amstrad was a cheap system for entry level .. QL should have went same way as the ZX81 .. … nick named the door stop..pile of tat .. In 1987 I was gonna by QL until I got Tatung Einstein best choice i ever made … £129 for Einstein and £99 for QL .. worth the extra £31 lol it made me what i am today…

  38. Sampa83 on October 26, 2020 at 4:23 pm

4:36 Why are they drawing pentagrams within circles on these things?

  39. ojbeez on October 26, 2020 at 4:26 pm

Beard is Mandatory. They forgot to mention that!

  40. Caleb Outlar on October 26, 2020 at 4:27 pm

  41. SmoothEmJay on October 26, 2020 at 4:27 pm

Blimey if you’re tired and can’t sleep, this is well worth playing.
That said, the CPC wins by miles.

  45. brostenen on October 26, 2020 at 4:31 pm

After all these years. We know how tapes and floppy disks have kept up against micro drives. Was a good idea, yet shitty in real life.

Guy Kewney. Doing his best, bless him. A mix up lead to him being there instead of the well respected technology expert Guy Goma.

The days when they had people on who knew what they were on about, instead of requiring them to simply be some irritating personality.
