Ok, this video is complete horseshit!!💯 Get ready because I’m going to rant about this bullshit. I have been free for the last year and a half from doing over 14 yrs in prison all over Texas. Want the truth? Here it is:
At the beginning of this video, they said that this is McConnell unit. McConnell unit is built like this, but it’s nowhere near this f****** clean. It is not spacious. You get two sheets, I busted flat mattress that is 3 in thick, and you get one wool blanket, half the time you do not get hot meals. Not on McConnell unit. This unit will stay locked down at least half the year. That means inmates will stay in their cell and be fed sacked meals which are called Johnny’s three times a day. Your breakfast Johnny is two pancakes with peanut butter and jelly between and a boiled egg. Lunch is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and a bologna sandwich. Supper maybe two corn dogs. If you are served a hot meal, it’s a safe bet that the food was taken out and cooked two days prior to the meal. As far as schooling goes, you have to be minimum custody and meet standard requirements in order to go get your GED or any further School education. It is not given to every inmate as these people state. The library is used for inmates that are enrolled in school. This is a small percentage compared to the unit’s population percentage. They offered no medical assistance if you are not bleeding out broken bones or dying. Very literally. People that have severe mental health problems, are locked away in administrative segregation in a 5×9 cell I’m 15 minutes to shower every 72 hours. They are giving no recreation no mentally evaluation and will not be properly medicated or properly treated. And if these people do get out, because they could not get help inside of prison, society will reject them in every way. When they are a product of our own making.

Not sure what is true or not back that time but today tdcj is having more dorms than 2 ppl "room". And they still work and get 3 meals a day + some recreation time but not hours like this video says. For medical there is but it takes often more than 48h to see someone and it usually is a nurse not a Dr… Then have to deal with inmates jalousy, anger and depression…
All those things just make life harder for sure. But again we do not go in prison due to mistake but due to bad choice. And on the other hand, no one gets better hearted with angry guards, no food or mean ppl arround.
Only with showing love and be strict and get them safe that MAYBE they will light up and change. Most will go back in sadly

I’ve served 5 years in TDC-ID, from 1993 to 1998, for possession of narcotics. And my experience, first hand and what I’d witnessed, was the complete opposite of what’s depicted in this segment. I know for a fact that the opinions of the inmates who were interviewed does not represent the inmates altogether. And I know too well that the administration has their picks, when it comes to inmate representation. After all, who in their right mind would enjoy being in prison because they and buy some damn Blue Bell ice cream off the commissary and play piano? What they don’t tell you is how the administration of TDCJ-ID thrives off gang violence/riots and the overall abuse and neglegence that goes on in these prisons, sometimes resulting in the death of inmates. Blatant rapes are unreported. Prisoners who are mentally disturbed and need help has committed suicide, attributed to the neglegence. And I’ve seen it all with my own eyes. But they’ll never tell you that! That’s just too much like right.
