Wondering how it’ll work with the new iPhone lightning port… will find out! 🙂
Do you think this mic would also work for a camcorder with regular mic in?
Sounds very good, thank you!!
Could I use this like on a regular point and shoot camera too??
What was the app you mentioned in this video?
I saw the Galaxy S3 there, does the microphone show while you are recording ? Because the jack is on the same side as the camera. Can you use it without seeing it on the video you record ?
Honestly I did not like so much.
Too much noise

I use my iPhone for vlogging my studio sessions and the iPhone is the quickest way for me not to worry about it
Would this be good to record music on garage band?

When I used the Rode VideoMic Me, it seems that it’s not working for me when filming with the android phone camera, are there any apps you can recommend that would solve my issue?
does this actually work with android phones? like say a PIXEL 2 phone? I have a USBC connection .. do I need special software or anything? Also, if I use my adapter.. does this have a clip that I can clip to the phone or something?
Mmmm, used mine once and it was perfect. On the second use, a constant static/crackling noise is happening on my video. Any troubleshooting tips? Rode’s site was completely unhelpful 🙁
Will this work with an iPad mini 4 or is it just for smart phones…. love the sound quality.
Mate I have an Iphone 7 plus. Does not have a jack connector. Now I know I can get a lightning connector to jack connector to make it work but how would I attach it to the phone? Is there a clamp or something? Hope this made sense.
Does this mic work on an iPhone 11. Also do I need a seperate compactible adaptor to plug it into the phone
What do you think about using this microphone to record lessons in University, far 10 meters (+/-) from the teacher?
I have had a Rode Videomic Me for about 9 months (bought July 2016), and in almost every video I shoot it creates problems. Clicking sounds, or sounds like rustling when nothing is touching the mic or wind when there is no wind. And, for some reason I can’t explain, the audio sometimes gets out of sync by a few frames (no fun to fix). Before buying this mic, I recommend you do google "problems with Rode videomic me" — I wish I had done this research. The weird part is that the problems are reported back as far as 2014. Rode, why haven’t you fixed this problem??? I love the idea of having a shotgun mic I can carry in my pocket, and to Rode’s benefit, when it has worked on short videos, the sound quality is so much better than with the iPhone 6s built in mic. Bottom line– do your research! This is a fun mic, but not a professional, or even a prosumer grade mic– until Rodes fixes the problem!
How would you compare a Lavalier Microphone to the VideoMic Me and is there a distance where the quality if the VideoMic Me start to deteriorate? For example, if I were to use a selfie stick. Thanks.
Goddamn it my Galaxy S9 has the jack on the underside of the phone!
How do you do an interview if you can only point the mic in one direction?
The mic sounds great. Is there anything on the market that makes people look into the lens instead of at the screen when they film themselves?
How far can I stand away from the mic without losing quality?
Does the iPhone also record the mic of the Apple Earplugs (with mic and remote) when you plug it into the VideoMic Me?
Will this fit a phone with a protection case?
Thanks!
could you use this mice on very loud concerts? cuz a normal cellmic does not do it when there is too much db
Is this mic useful for Facebook lives? I do live concerts of my band through Facebook live but my Galaxy 6s edge plus for some reason is not receiving a good sound!.
Hello, I like to go to outdoor concerts and I like to use my iPhone to record bands because of the convenience would this mic be a good choice to get some better quality audio for the videos? The wind screen alone is a huge plus for me
I def want to get this mic for my videos, I use LG phones and some of them have very sensitive mics and sound can become very distorted when recording in loud areas. So i will be investing in one of these to see the improvements. And I am also glad you used an Android device as well because most of these mic tests are with IOS devices only.
should I plug it in before I start recording or is it ok to plug it in while recording?
Thank you very helpful!
HELP ME i get mic static sounds from this microphone
Is it only a recording mic, or will it work with live broadcasts, e.g. Facebook Live.
is it also good on longer range for reviews as if the iphone was standing on a tripod?
And here I sit,me an apple user fresh out of headphone jack due to hair brain marketing schemes. And please don’t mention that stupid boondoggle jack as a viable option 😐
Great review, thanks, been looking at these on line for vlogging and was sceptical, certainly helped me choose.
What is the app to work on the rode videomic me??
Hey there
Thanks a lot for this review! As this is a directional microphone, I’m wondering whether it would work for my specific use case?
I’m busking on the streets, and while I’m having a "real" portable PA with both microphone and guitar input, I’d sometimes like to not carry around all that stuff and still be able to amplify both my voice and my guitar.
I have an iPhone holder that I can attach to the front of my acoustic guitar, so I can look at my iPhone’s screen while playing. I thought: why not just use my microphone to pick up both the guitar and my voice, and connect a little Bluetooth speaker to amplify? While wearing headphones, this works perfectly (sound quality isn’t great, but enough for my purpose). But as soon as I connect the speaker, I get terrible feedback issues (no surpise here).
So – do you think using a directional microphone like the RØDE VideoMic Me (and placing the speaker in front of myself, facing to the audience), I would get a better result?
Maybe you could give it a try? I would love to hear your opinion.
Thank you!
Hey Buddy!
I bought this videomic me but I hear some noise (static/metalic noise) in my Iphone 6 and in my friends Iphone 6 plus. I don’t hear this with my android. Did you edited the sound of this video or it’s the natural sound? Did you use any mobile cover? Many tks!!!
This microfone not working whith xiaomi mi A1. Why?
BEWARE: at Samsung S9 this mic doesn’t work properly
I lost my wind cover, it fell off… What do I do now? I am in Latin America and there’s no chance I’ll find it in a store…
