Scrapping an HDMI Projection TV for FREE GOLD and other metals -Moose Scrapper

On the road to building back up my collection of ceramic chips, the HDMI projection TV is pretty much a gold guarantee! Not a whole lot else in there for scrap but enough to make it worth it for me especially since there is no CRT tube to dispose of and the rest is mostly recyclable plastic.

One thing you can do with lenses, mirrors and optical parts is to stock them, and when you have a big box of it, sell them as a grab bag on ebay, people like science teachers are always happy to get them, usually it even reaches a quite decent price.

Hey Moose, just wondering, why does it cost you $7 to get rid of a vacuum TV? Do you have to pay a disposal fee for throwing it out after you scrap it?

  16. CP trikester on August 16, 2020 at 9:06 pm

I’ve scrapped a few of these myself, except I use the case as a display cabinet. Leave the mirror in it. Real nice when one of the screen sheets is clear.
As for the goo. Your right, what a mess.

BRIGHT SIDE: The aluminum was great for casting.

Moose, at the risk of getting spammed, I need to talk with you. Been watchin "all" your vids, and just tore up a rca projection tv. I’m not good with these devices, no computer and am off grid. My outfit is called Buck ana Doe E-waste recycling. No Web page or other such Internet social media either. Don’t know how. Anyway, if we could talk, sojourner1511@gmail.com. Thanks. Informative video as I write this. Thanks again.

Hey Moose, been a while, The chip, I have 1, never will process it, they have about 3 bucks worth of gold in them. the large gold window case is nickle base. Like you I do very little scrapping now. My wife was a big part and she passed away 2 weeks after we finished a big job. It produced about 3 oz of gold. Just sold the last of the boards her and I collected, 1500 pounds of high grade. I miss her company and help. Can’t do it anymore. Merry Christmas Moose

I just scrapped one of those about a week ago. Saved the chips. Cut the housing into small pieces and recycled it. I still need to take the mirror in to the glass recycling.

Merry Christmas Moose, I’ve taken apart CRT projection tv’s and the fluid is Monoethylene glycol. I usually pour in an old milk jug and turn in at the hazardous waste site.

  36. Anis Ahemad on August 16, 2020 at 9:32 pm

You did not tell the price of the CPU sir please tell me

  37. my2centz on August 16, 2020 at 9:33 pm

I’m pissed! I didn’t get know gold chip out of my 65" projection TV. . Lol I did get some pretty cool lenses, mirrors, and awesome magnets from the speakers. I took the speakers apart and they had the typical round black magnet but also a round neodymium magnet also. I will say this TV had awesome sounding speakers but they where rather small. I’ve never seen neodymium magnets in speakers before although other then some factory car speakers I’ve never taking them apart before. Oh and I got a couple regular pc fans but 2 small squirrel cage fans also that will come in handy also.

Hey those color wheels are not only kinda cool looking but they are going for pretty decent money on eBay. I scrapped one of the 73inch Mitsubishi projection tv’s and out of curiosity I looked up the color wheel and was quite surprised where they’re priced at. Definitely worth listing it though. Thanks for all your videos. They’re extremely helpful and we enjoy watching them. Thanks again..

Hey man are you processing those dlp chips your self or have you in the past. I had 12 of them last year and had some trouble sulfuric cell didn’t do a great job and the thick base metal underneath eats up a lot of acid so I wanted to see if any one else had any ideas but there’s not anyone talking about processing them yet
