Taiwan to regulate USB-powered household appliances including portable fans

Today there”s a wide variety of appliances you can charge using a USB port, ranging from miniature fans to tiny juicers. To ensure their safety, the government says it will start regulating USB-powered household appliances as early as next year.

Conventional home appliances are already subject to stringent market standards. But USB-charging versions of these appliances are not yet regulated, which means their build quality varies. In worst cases, they can catch fire when charging. Several years ago, a child suffered second-degree burns when a USB-driven fan exploded in his hand.

It will be nice finely if Taiwan start to regulate things, like food too, a lot of trashy restaurants operating in poor hygiene conditions, from a country like Taiwan it’s a shame to have no regulations what so ever about food safety
