I’d be skeptical about battery life on renewed products. I hear you saying 80%, but doesn’t that already cut the lifespan of the product significantly?

So, I guess the Asus didnt work after smashing it with the hammer?

  3. Joan Jaybird on October 22, 2020 at 3:32 pm

Depends on what I’m doing. Usually pc but Apple if doing videos

Thanks, my dude! I had been having trouble picking out a new laptop for my parents (they needed a new basic laptop for business purposes) but they loved the ASUS recommendation and the one you linked to was even better priced than in the video.
    Also, I love the whole 👐 hand-waving 👐 randomly bit – I do that too! 🤗

Omg!!! Your timing with this presentation is excellent! I am 64 years young. Should I wait till Christmas to get a new computer? Will this information be relevant at Christmas or should we look for Your update?

The first laptop, the Asus, I wouldn’t call an A series dual core high performance, its a 4-5 year old processor, most processors now have a minimum of 4 cores on the lower end. 4 gigs of ram will run Windows 10 ok for your every day stuff of browsing the web but virtually no gaming, a 500GB hard drive which is probably 5400 RPM. Now they get away with this on a consumer laptop which can have issues (but fewer with Windows 10 because there won’t be a Windows 11…but it’ll be interesting to see how Windows 10X would run in this), but I digresss. Consumer laptops are known to have cheaper things in them (hence the old processor) and after a few years drivers MAY stop working for certain things like the track pad and fingerprint reader (but again since its Windows 10 this is less likely to happen but it can happen if the driver system in Windows changes for some reason).

A Chromebook is pretty good. I got one for my father and he just goes onto Twitter and does email and such so its’ great. Like you said if you want to run any Windows based programs you’re out of luck. If you want to use word you can use the Office Online which I think is better than the Google offerings.

Any computer with a Pentium processor I would stay away from. Pentium processors are slow, slower than the i3 processor in the third laptop you showed so the Surface I would probably not buy, after a while it’ll slow down. Also if you have your heart set on the Surface go don’t get it with the eMMC drive, its really slow and you won’t be happy, pay the extra and get the SSD drive you’ll thank me…you were showing off the SSD version which is good.

I wouldn’t buy a mac and if you gave me one I’d sell it and buy a real computer.

  13. Sam Vance on October 22, 2020 at 3:46 pm

You can’t compare the 1st iPad with the 1st Surface… that’s like comparing the 1st Ford car with the first Toyota…

Also, you’re buy more than a logo with the Mac… you get macOS, the ecosystem, the ease of use, build quality.

Budget laptops = nothing but headaches and problems.

  15. Barbie7884 on October 22, 2020 at 3:48 pm

Mac vs PC, it’s really all about what I’m doing. If I am running any Office product (heavy Excel user here) it runs better on a PC, I use PC. If it’s photo/video editing I use the Mac. 90% of the time I open the PC and the Mac is just streaming YouTube.

  16. Phil Bartlett on October 22, 2020 at 3:48 pm

With other than MAC you’re stuck with a mediocre or worse operating system. Microsoft sinks and Chrome is not much better. My Mac computer is 10 years old and still works and has never had a virus. You can easily adjust the ram on a Mac.

  17. Matrix Unravelling on October 22, 2020 at 3:49 pm

Apple is user friendly, for the most part, and it’s visually pretty, but mainly it’s greatly geared to function for the use of professional (and non-pro) graphic and multi medias programs. If there’s a non Apple platform that can do all of that PLEASE let me know. It ticks me off how money hungry Apple has always been (by my experience). There was always that special ‘Apple product’ device that I was required to go out and purchase, just so I could complete my projects!

  18. Nick S on October 22, 2020 at 3:51 pm

Windows user: "I don’t like what this button does… darn Microsoft". Linux user: "How do I change what this button does?". Apple user: "Just tell me what button to push and when". My wife is the latter. You can probably guess which I am! Cheers Matt. Love your show.

  19. E Wong on October 22, 2020 at 3:56 pm

the only decent one is the lenovo ideapad

  20. Skeeter Verasammy-Parsons on October 22, 2020 at 3:58 pm

I only use a PC. I don’t like Chromebook. Apple is too expensive. I have 3 PC. Enjoy your video. Love the info.

  21. Ana Ramirez on October 22, 2020 at 3:58 pm

I have to say, when in college, it was a lot nicer and easier to collaborate with other MacBook owners. When most of the other students had Macs, presentations, projects, and the such just worked smoother. My son is now college. I’m definitely looking at a MacBook for him.

  24. NU MOO on October 22, 2020 at 3:59 pm

iPhone over Android any day ( I’ve owned Samsung), iPad over any other tablets any day. Windows laptops over Apple because…they are more reasonable in price and setup.

  25. Kelvin Jackson on October 22, 2020 at 4:00 pm

Apple is a NO-GO everything is to proprietary. If you try to get out you have to start over. Everything from everywhere else will switch to them smoothly. I know to RUN the other way if I see Apple or i- for anything. And as you said the price difference as well.

I have ZERO knowledge about computers.
My 9 years old son wants to learn coding and build websites. What’s is the best laptop for him?

I was thinking to go this weekend to best buy. Thanks

  40. Patricia Rivas on October 22, 2020 at 4:20 pm

Hardcore Apple person. Apple allows you to be creative while Microsoft does not. Give me an Apple any day!

  41. Linda Ketner on October 22, 2020 at 4:21 pm

My granddaughter is using the first iPad I ever had. It is still going strong with no problems. I have had iPhone 3 and every one after that and I am currently on my iPhone 11 pro so I think that makes me a diehard Apple person. I donut have a lot of money but I do like my iPads and iPhones. I do have a Dell all in one desk top. You have given me food for thought but I also am looking forward to the new iPad that will come out soon (I hope). I am enjoying watching your show very much. Very informative!

  42. Tara Kirby on October 22, 2020 at 4:21 pm

PC! I have always felt like you are just simply paying for the logo with Apple. I have a Surface Go and absolutely LOVE it. It’s great for doing work while waiting in a doctor’s office or on the run. I can literally just stick it in my pocket book and go instead of having to lug my laptop and computer bag all over the place.

Would any of these be good for music production ? Perhaps $500 or lower so the Lenovo or the Asus

  47. Dee Dee on October 22, 2020 at 4:23 pm

I purchased a Acer Chromebook in 2019 from Best Buy because of the price and absolutely love it…It opens fast . I check my emails. I go on the Bank website. I also watch sling TV . I watch YouTube. And I search the web with no problem…. plus I don’t have to buy a separate anti virus protection….The Acer Chromebook is awesome depend on what you want it for. Thank you for sharing.

I have a Apple Pro 9.7 and a Dell Chromebook. I prefer the Apple iPad over the chromebook I can do more stuff with it. I also a realtor and it is easier to do contracts on the iPad

Not a Apple fan myself however these products are fantastic for older people who are not tech savvy. Ease of use.
My dad has a ipad and iphone and it’s the same system this is the only reason I would encourage someone to by Apple.
