    Ebay does the same shit.
They sell returned merchandise as "reconditioned".
Amazon refuses returns of certain reconditioned items.
It’s too much of a gamble buying used or reconditioned newer appliances.

I replaced a WHILPOOL gas water heater from lowes at least 4 times. they sold this water heater for years knowing it was no good. then when you take it back they try to send you on the phone with manufactory for a product like they had no part in the sale. lucky I am a plumber. I changed it four times and worked on it at least 4 more times. this all happened in like 3 years never making it close to the warranty. I about got in jail the last time. its a long story but take it from me DONT buy a appliance at lowes

My mom purchased a scratch and dent Samsung washer from LOWES in January. It was delivered, my dad connected it and water shot everywhere in the kitchen. Repair woman came out, and said the washer had no internal plumbing wise. Samsung said that they will not honor the warranty because the machine had been used. She had it 2 months and was unable to use it 1 time.
Samsung tracked the serial number and found out it had been purchased at LOWES then returned within 30 days. She had to go back and forth on the phone as you did. She said maybe a total of 20 hours dealing with this issue.
Samsung finally agreed to repair the washer for $400.

She told them she’ll just return it to the store.

LOWES gave her a brand new washer (not scratch and dent) for the price she’d paid for the returned 1.

I told her they only did it because it was cheaper than getting sued for selling a used washer as a new scratch and dent.

Now I’m curious as to if they put the 1 she returned back on the floor. We were told they were going to scrap it.

I’m a general contractor/home builder thats been shopping at both Lowes and Home Depot since their beginning. Originally, they were fine, had good help and I had no real issues dealing with them. Fast forward 25 years and both are now filled with useless "no skill" & no care employees that seem to be mostly women and minorities. I’m back to buying from independents again, even though it is very inconvenient having to travel to 5-6 different businesses to get the job done. What happened to this country? Did social media and the cell phone ruin everybody and everything? Even the cheap made appliances of today do not compare to what I remember to be well built, no problems and a third the price appliances going back to the mid 90’s? A brand new Washer was under $300 and a dryer…about $250.

  8. JL-Artz on September 2, 2021 at 8:57 pm

I know Lowe’s does this kind of thing alot, they will not scrap unless item does not move. I’ve seen them try to move items that were deemed unrepairable. Feel bad for the people that get stuck with junk.

  9. Christie on September 2, 2021 at 8:59 pm

Go the used appliance store where people have gotten rid of old appliances just to upgrade to new looking ones, and buy those. You’ll probably get another 30 years out of them

  10. R J on September 2, 2021 at 8:59 pm

Wow, that is good to know. I never would have guessed they run such a shady business segment like that. Thanks for sharing!

  11. Mike Marino on September 2, 2021 at 9:03 pm

I used to be the GC at 2 lowes stores in my town , I quit because of the unprofessional practice they have … No one cares about customer services.
    I Hate going in there.

  12. D N on September 2, 2021 at 9:07 pm

I am am appliance technician. That Samsung you bought you better make sure you take all the coins in debris out of pocket. That small agitation disc is a nightmare. You better not over studs that machine too. You will be dealing with a nightmare. Those machines also have known bad pumps and bad water valves they start to drip in two or three years if you have a house with high pressure it will malfunction.

  15. Linda Burke on September 2, 2021 at 9:10 pm

I bought a sander from there. It was missing sandpaper . Someone bought it, used it, returned it and they blamed me when I brought it back. It wasn’t an open box…

  16. Boonie loo on September 2, 2021 at 9:11 pm

We ordered a washer 5/23/2020 and still haven’t received it. We’ve checked in numerous times to be told it hasn’t been shipped to their warehouse yet. With Covid and everything backed up we’ve been patient. We had bought a temporary washer off FB marketplace that we’ve been using while waiting.
My husband went today, and they said they don’t see it in there system. Looked on our Lowes account and it says, DELIVERED!! So freaking pissed!! Of course, there no managers there. Only an assistant who said he’ll talk to his manager.

  17. jp affluent on September 2, 2021 at 9:11 pm

Wow, I just purchased a GE new washer from Lowe’s. The free delivery was curt, & would not level. They did not bring my new hoses either. I did three loads of laundry. It worked fine. Three days later my floor was soaking wet. Water had been running down the back of the washer. The hoses were not properly attached.
Washer motor was sitting for 3-4 days. New peal n stick floor lifting, water everywhere.
Had to drive to Lowe’s bc no one would answer the phone after 45 minutes…
Made lots of promises to fix my floor, replace the washer, etc but no follow thru.
I thought I had 90 day return policy from Lowe’s but appliances you only have 30 days from the date you order it.
I ended up having my neighbor help me bring it back for full refund. I did receive a full refund but there has been no follow up on replacing my floor.
Never buy any applications from Lowes.

  18. Me me on September 2, 2021 at 9:13 pm

If it was fixed and offered at a discount, I dont see the problem.

  19. Cool Breeze on September 2, 2021 at 9:13 pm

I worked for Lowe’s for fourteen years, they lie all the time.

  20. Terry Thomas on September 2, 2021 at 9:14 pm

Who can you trust these days?? What gets me is that when you buy any item, the first they they ask is if you want to buy an extended warranty? Im thinking, man ,I just bought this new product, and they are talking about repairs already! ??? lol

  21. Brenda Ryan on September 2, 2021 at 9:14 pm

Home Depot is no better. Better to just buy from an actual appliance store.

  22. dauntie kay on September 2, 2021 at 9:17 pm

I guess we can all learn from this and if you do have to buy appliances I think it best to use a credit card (not Lowe’s) but a regular credit card and the credit company can go after them and you can get your money back–it is the best way to buy big priced items. I buy my appliances from a store in town that specializes only in appliances.

  23. robert hodge on September 2, 2021 at 9:18 pm

lowes has gotten rid of the Qualified people they used to have for class A idiots anymore.

  24. traderpete007 on September 2, 2021 at 9:18 pm

Lowe’s extended warranty screwed me too on an oven. They eventually totaled the oven but only after 3 weeks of fighting over a $50 part.

  25. Obwan Kenobi on September 2, 2021 at 9:18 pm

I also bought an Amanda washer from Lowe’s. It has a finish nail in the tub. The mail jammed the tub, the belt burned up and vault in fire. Filled my laundry room with smoke. They replaced the tub and the belt. And I was just running it for the first time to test and clean it out, no clothes were in it. I bought the washer dryer pair, they weren’t clearance rack items.

  26. Bobby Woods on September 2, 2021 at 9:22 pm

I had the same thing happen with a pair of Levi’s I returned at Academy and I damn near bought them a second time.

  27. Ann Bennett on September 2, 2021 at 9:23 pm

    Did u buy extended insurance

  28. Mak Daddy on September 2, 2021 at 9:23 pm

Everything made these days is JUNK. People these days love paying low prices for Chinese made JUNK and replace it every year…They think they are getting a good deal. Lucky if you can even buy a faucet that lasts more than a year. LOL

  29. joseph graham on September 2, 2021 at 9:24 pm

I went to lowes 4 months ago because I needed a new dishwasher and they sold me a 1000 kitchenaide machine for 500 still in box because the model was last years model. Was allowed to purchase the additional 4 year warranty really the best appliance deal I ever got. I was also able to register it. Very glad I didnt have to deal with what happened to you.

  30. Obwan Kenobi on September 2, 2021 at 9:26 pm

Well I think it’s generally a bad idea to buy those clearance rack appliances at Lowe’s. I bought a refrigerator from them. They loaded it in my truck, I had a bunch of racheting tie downs In the back for them. They said they secured the refrigerator and strapped it down – they didn’t! I drove down the highway , the refrigerator did a back flip right over the tailgate and hit the pavement like a b54 landing. Another driver helped me get it back in the truck, the stryofoam beads were pouring out of the inside of this thing. I brought it back and they had to give me another one and deliver it too. The next day I saw that same refrigerator on the clearance rack for half off. Do you want to be the unlucky soul that brought that hone thinking you got the deal of a lifetime ? Wow, they pedal some real junk on those clearance items. You just never know what your going to get 😉

  31. M Brooks on September 2, 2021 at 9:27 pm

Not sure if it’s been mentioned but – get a flostop – saved us many times – ✌️

  32. Joe Boxer on September 2, 2021 at 9:29 pm

I used to work at Lowe’s, store number 2605. I bought two appliances on clearance thinking the markdown plus my employee discount made it a good value. Both items were defective.

  33. A C on September 2, 2021 at 9:29 pm

Spend a little extra and get Speed Queen, can’t go wrong there and will last 2 lifetimes. JMPO

  34. Campbell73 on September 2, 2021 at 9:30 pm

I can PROMISE you will HATE this computer light show of a SO called washer!.. buy the cheaper basic ones! That ALL only last 4-5 years anyway! The bells and whistles will bite ya!!!! Promise!!!😂😂

  35. Robert Morris on September 2, 2021 at 9:30 pm

Lowes is a housewife store, you rarely find construction workers in lowes. like a good restaurant look for contractors or police cars, if you don’t see them chances are the place isn’t very good.

  36. Jake on September 2, 2021 at 9:31 pm

I highly suspect Menard’s is doing the same thing. Wal-Mart puts defective returns back on the shelves hoping some sucker will eventually buy it without returning. It is CRIMINAL to return ANY ITEM back into stock ad new once it had been opened and USED

  37. Abel Cerrillo on September 2, 2021 at 9:31 pm

    That’s why I don’t shop at Lowe’s

  38. Carl Thornton on September 2, 2021 at 9:33 pm

    Very Good…

  39. Linda Heilman on September 2, 2021 at 9:35 pm

We bought a new frig from lowes a few years ago. It never worked right. We had 1 repair guy try to fix it didn’t work right. Another repair guy tried 2 times to fix it. It worked a few months. The paint started to come off and the hinges started to corrode. It didn’t last a year. I hauled it to the landfill. A waste of money!😠

  40. Rowgue51 on September 2, 2021 at 9:35 pm

The HOBO in our area used to run that same scam. They’re out of business now so maybe it caught up with them. But they had that same scratch and dent discount area with seemingly unbelievable bargains, and they did the same thing. I even watched it happen in real time once as I was waiting for customer service to handle the issue I had. A guy brought a broken range hood/microwave in. He spent five minutes telling them how it was completely non functional. Neither the range hood or the microwave worked whatsoever. They took it in and gave him his refund or whatever they were doing. Then literally as soon as the guy walked out of the store they looked over the exterior of it for a total of ten seconds, slapped a sticker on it saying it was "repaired" and put it right back in the scratch and dent section.

  41. neophytealpha on September 2, 2021 at 9:35 pm

Had a scratch and dent bought. They tried to deliver. It was barely dented. When they brought it it was heavily damaged. Rejected it, because they heavily damaged it between purchase and delivery. Got refund.

  42. Christie on September 2, 2021 at 9:36 pm

All my refrigerator parts popped apart like potato chips.
Never seen plastic bins so cheaply made.

  43. John Staudt on September 2, 2021 at 9:36 pm

I’ve bought many appliances from Lowes. Very few problems.

  44. Bob Fenz on September 2, 2021 at 9:37 pm

I had a similar experience maybe 30 years ago with another brand of washing machine I bought from a small appliance dealer in Jersey at a steeply discounted price. I I installed in the basement, turned it on and there was water everywhere. Since the water was in the basement, there was no damage or mold to the structure.
I returned to the dealer the next day and confronted him with my Jersey accent which included most of the four letter words I know and then some. The machine was under warranty, the factory rep came out and repaired the thing at no additional charge. The machine ran for at least another 20 years. “This is the way the world works.”

  45. tullgutten on September 2, 2021 at 9:37 pm

And people wonder why some people become serial killers? Show them this video 😅🤣
So never ever buy anything rhat hooks up to water or gas lines from Lowes

  46. mikielyke on September 2, 2021 at 9:37 pm

I bought a upright freezer at Lowe’s it worked for 11 days then quit I called Lowe’s and they told me I would have to contact whirlpool to repair I told them I wanted to return it then but I was told you have to return within 10 days, when repair (independent) came out he said it had been repaired before and had the wrong part, never buy an appliance at Lowe’s, I don’t shop there anymore.

Samsung an LG need to stick to electronics. Their appliances are junk.

  49. David Houston on September 2, 2021 at 9:43 pm

I have a Kenmore 1989 washer works perfect

  50. Muffs 55mercury on September 2, 2021 at 9:45 pm

i don’t buy from Lowes and never new appliances. They’re junk and they keep bullying people to buy their extended warranty. My washer, dryer and stove were made in the 1980s and still work great and if something goes out like a timer, a belt or a burner then I can fix it myself for less that $30-$40 at the most.
