The main issue I see with modern gaming is how much data usage and work the equipment is doing . Sony needs to regulate game companies to build more efficient games that put less work on their system . See Sony probably released the other heatsink to meet regulations laws or to meet patent rights

You two managed to sour the experience of thousands of PS5 owners and ruin the joy of those looking to buy one in the future just for the sake of getting millions of views. Heavier, lighter, smaller heat-sink bigger heat-sink, cost cutting by Sony, who cares? Your review is hardly scientific. I’d put my trust in Sony. The consoles (either version) works great and anyone with the privilege to own one should just enjoy it for what it is, a Sony Play Station 5.

I bought a launch ps5 seen this went ooooh snap was happy i did… but than did rsethearch (Digtial foundry) did a whole series of tests on this & Turns out the cpu temp is 4.5c cooler on the old ps5 but vram memory temp is better by aprox 3.5c cooler on the new ps5.
Why:
The New PS5 sold 10 million consoles, which are less than The New Xbox Series X sold 12 million consoles which are cheaper than PS5 consoles. Because many vendors have bought so many PS5 or Xbox Series X consoles which just released on the market and they want to sell them online on big stores for very high prices to make some profits; however, many consumers don’t want to buy consoles of very higher prices than the prices which Sony company and Microsoft company have sold, many consumers bought the Xbox Series S and PS5 Digital because they are cheaper than Xbox Series X & PS5. I got Xbox Series S for $289 in the US. February 24th 2022, many vendors (not by Sony or Microsoft) sell their PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles online on big stores to make profits.
Which model of the disc version is better?
Couple people mentioning higher exhaust temps COULD mean the cooler is doing a better job dissipating heat. The thing is, Sony removed a SIZABLE amount of the heatsink on this new model. With fewer fins and smaller heatpipes it simply isn’t as efficient at moving the heat out of the console.
Think about it as if it were a PC. If I remove a large CPU heatsink in favor of a smaller one the exhaust coming off my system would be hotter as the overall system temps are higher since the weaker cooler can’t cope. That’s exactly what’s going on here IMO.

Great video guys just picked up a PS5 this was a real eye opener . Sony did the same with the Ps2, PS3,PS4 and the original DVD players when they 1st came out. They all seem to get built to a cheaper quality over time

Idc what LTT told you about to many fans in a PC case, this is straight-up shit on sonys end. Ps5 is not a good console.. they have been ahead for so many years, they went lax on designing the ps5 to save money when xbox has been behind for so many years so they worked hard on building a powerful system with user friendly subscription game pass. Now next gen may be the opposite cuse ps5 will be behind in quality so will focus on building a better system when xbox might go lax cause they were ahead.

The ps5 can come with 3 different fan models… one is silent
_If the heat sink was _*_less efficient,_*_ it would dissipate heat _*_more slowly,_*_ and therefore be _*_cooler_*
So either the new heatsink is more efficient (or less thermal mass) or the CPU or GPU are running hotter for some reason (maybe not so binned for lower voltage)
Plus they would _obviously_ make the cooling _better_ if the original had bad cooling
I work QC for an electronics manufacturer. The green solder mask can vary from lot to lot. Or I could be the same board from a different vendor

Glad I got mine early on. The later version is not always the better one. Companies will cut corners to safe cost going forward.

Lol you can’t test the exhaust temp…a real test was done on the actual hardware and it shows it keeps the systems main components cooler by a full 2 degrees all while being half the size. Not sure why your hating on the new model lol not our fault you didn’t wait untill the better version dropped
It’s lighter because they are cutting costs!!! I’ll have to get an old one because more heat sink is better than less. Only Sony is benefiting from the new version not the consumer. It looks like they’re trying to compensate by making the fan fin surface area larger, which may not even help at that point. The added SSD heat is a huge overlook for them too, good point guys.
