False morel mushrooms are poisonous and potentially lethal if not prepared properly. Still, people in Finland love to eat them. Why? It comes down to taste, of course. And these nutty mushrooms are insanely delicious. We go foraging in the forest for false morels with chef Kim Mikkola. Then he prepares them for us back at his Michelin-starred restaurant in Helsinki. The process is painstaking. But it must be followed so people can safely enjoy this traditional delicacy.

It’s a nice idea to preserve the tradition for the younger people, who unfortunately aren’t likely to ever be able to afford it at this rate.
I had a frittata made with these gyromitra in California. They we’re very delicious. I wouldn’t recommend any average joe off the street forage, prepare, and eat a wild mushroom; but in the hands of someone knowledgable, it feels quite safe.

It’s just illegal to sell them in Sweden, since they´re poisonous. And are still poisonous after cooking, lots of times, just less so. So, yeah.

Вряд ли меня поймут иностранцы, но очень хочется прокомментировать данный ролик. Строчки и сморчки нужно варить, меняя воду, в которой они варятся, не менее трёх раз. Потом промыть и обжарить на сливочном или на растительном масле вместе с луком. Вот тогда действительно будет вкусно и безвредно.
