Hi,I bought 6×9 reference speakers for my car. Where is the optimum position to install this. Back door, or parcel tray as ‘free air’, or in an enclosure? I installed components in the front door.
I have JBL GTO939 GTO Series in my front doors and on my back deck lid and JBL GTO629 in rear doors and jbl 3020 in front dash and jbl tweeter set in front doors backed up with 2 jbl 4 channel 1000 watt amps with 2 JBL STADIUM 1024 Stadium Series 10" subs and these speakers handle all the power and they are clear with very good bass and it’s loud. JBL just came out with new 6×9 speakers 962m those are going in my front doors to replace my GT0939. this system is in my 2012 Nissan Maxima S edition with original head unit. I am debating to change the head unit with the Tesla version head unit, it’s the same panel size.

I have 4 altec Lansing 6x9s since 1994 still hitting hard.
Keep the information consistent for every speaker… don’t tell us the ohm resistance for one speaker and then the color of the grille for the next one

i am sorry to desagree with you. the GTO JBL 939 i have and they sound much louder than the infinity sps 619. besides the Alpine hava a sensitivity of 90 decibels and the Gto has 94 and if you do the math 3 decibels is twice the power. so when the gtos run at 100 watts the alpine would need at least 200 watts to deliver the same loudness. hope you undertand me not an audio engineer but i install stereo sistems
The only problem with the JBL GTO is that if the rest of your system plays higher than 3 ohms, they will be louder than the rest which ruins the whole system.
Alpine is not the best…. I did 1 month of research and today the very best 6×9 speaker is the 962m jbl

Prime rockford door speaker and 6×9’s aremt that loud or clear. I always go with the punch or power line of products from them

I would agree with the Alpine SPS, but the second place should be with out a doubt is the JBL GTO with 3 ohm impedance these can get very loud, and still deliver a rich full quality sound.
Audiopipe 6×9 Redline Series are awesome as well.
