The majority, if not all of this fixture type has an HID lamp ballast in head of fixture. Did you remove and bypass the ballast? That CFL lamp you have in there can barely see over the opaque part of the fixture and is most undoubtably useless.

I have a dusk to dawn light and it will come on for about three hours then go out for about an hour then come back on,,,all night long. I;m a senior female and I need to a little advice on whether this is the bulb, the sensor or the whole light. Thanks

You didn’t show nothing about repairing or troubleshooting or is that all you did was change your fucking light bulb you didn’t say nothing about how to repair the photocell idiot

My mercury vapor light will only come on and stay on when it’s warm outside 70 degrees +. I replaced the photo sensor and that did not help it. So I went to Lows and got a new fixture for $32.00 on sale. I’m going to climb up the latter and change them out soon. I’m still going to use the old bulb that’s been in there since 2010. If the new fixture does the same thing as the old fixture, which I’m fairly sure it won’t, then I’ll buy a new bulb. This has been going on for 6 months now LOL.. I"m thinking the ballast is bad in the one that is up there now that only lights up when it’s warm outside and only then when it feels like it. First I’ve had any trouble with it in 7 years from the last time I change them out. Seems to be the life expectancy of these lights, about 8 years give or take a few.

Hello. How did you attach the light fixture to the metal pole?? (Because it’s suppose to be a wall mount.)

You’ve got the voice for a serial killer from a movie (no offense). I think it’s pretty damn cool! Candy Cane…

Hi there so sorry to bother you… I noticed that your light looks VERY similar to ours. We have a security light in our backyard over garage (bad hood) and the only real diff (by looks of it) from our light to yours, is it looks like our light sensor is just a lil circle that sits above the shade. Anyways this light has been running since I was 7 years old, I’m now 32 and the light JUST died. I noticed you had a normal spiral bulb in there…. do I have to replace with same bulb (which gramma says is some type of bulb similar to non LED street lights) or can I use a simple bulb and just replace it more often than I would the "street light bulb"? I know this question is a long shot because you dont know exactly what kind of light we have. But like I said it’s almost identical to yours maybe just a newer model. The light went up in 1990 and for whatever reason the first bulb died 3yrs later, was replaced and has been on ever since. Its sooooo creepy without that light lol so we want to get it back asap. If you could respond and lemme know that’d be great!!! Thanks 4 yr time.
    – Granddaughter and gramma 🙂
