I went nuts when he played the catalyst intro. I love Chappers!!!

  2. Jason Stone on August 15, 2020 at 8:46 pm

Sounds effing awesome….well impressed….I have no problem with companies stepping out of the mainstream…..let’s have more please….

  3. danmar007 on August 15, 2020 at 8:47 pm

I can’t believe Vox stopped making their beautiful guitars only to come up with this. Alright, it’s pretty cool and it looks very interesting. Notice how Rob looks like a giant next to those two guys?

  4. Pheonix2022 on August 15, 2020 at 8:47 pm

Middle section needs to be removable since it already looks like an ugly travel guitar with a frame around it (it’s growing on me…but it’s still ugly) so you might as well give it that extra functionality, and the headstock absolutely needs to be painted. I don’t dislike the shape of it necessarily but the straight natural finish makes it look like a cheap unfinished Saga guitar kit neck.

Sounds fine but looks awfull! Please KORG/VOX, bring back all the great guitar of the JMI era! Phanton XII, VI, STARSTREAM XII; HE V213 LYNX; V275 ULTRASONIC XII; THE V286 GRAND PRIX; THE V219 BOBCAT; THE V252 MARK VI ACOUSTIC

  6. MB215 on August 15, 2020 at 8:50 pm

That drive tone kinda sounds like one of the tones from one of the Vox Modeling amps

  7. deadboy on August 15, 2020 at 8:52 pm

    But….. Does it DJENT?

  8. Marvin Bush on August 15, 2020 at 8:52 pm

The price for that guitar is astounding. But I gotta admit that the appearance is somewhat off-putting.

  9. Brick Breaker on August 15, 2020 at 8:52 pm

There goes your tone wood theory, huh?

  10. Broken Briton on August 15, 2020 at 8:53 pm

    But it’s so bloody ugly

  11. Nerf Chanka on August 15, 2020 at 8:53 pm

That thing is fucking beautiful. Papa bless Vox.

  12. Jah Mark on August 15, 2020 at 8:53 pm

Rob how can you just look into the lens and lie to us like this?

  13. Gabriel Carducci on August 15, 2020 at 8:53 pm

    HOLY SMOKES THAT’S A DUDE!

  14. Gerardo Rojas on August 15, 2020 at 8:54 pm

the design of this guitar has strangely grown on me, but I could do without the headstock

  15. DAVID GREGORY KERR on August 15, 2020 at 8:54 pm

So is it time to put a multi-mode DSP based guitar effects pedal inside the VOX guitar but needs a multiway connector something like a DB9 connector plus a pedal connector beside the main lead which would be perfect.

  16. Andrew Hayes on August 15, 2020 at 8:54 pm

I wouldn’t touch one of these with a shitty stick, all the simulated instruments sound empty, there are dozens of effects units on the market that do a much better job than this, I get a slight whiff of "The Emporer Wears No Clothes" with this

  17. Dylan Langley on August 15, 2020 at 8:57 pm

Whats the name of that country-ish tune rob was playing at the start.

  18. Fraser Jamieson on August 15, 2020 at 8:57 pm

They should take that modifying thingymajig and turn it into something like the amPlugs

  19. Cipriano Ortega on August 15, 2020 at 8:58 pm

Is there a left handed version?

  20. BroToPro on August 15, 2020 at 9:00 pm

there’s no left handed starstream so i’m not impressed as i would of bought one

  21. Philip Howard on August 15, 2020 at 9:02 pm

What does in Vox make good guitars like the old ones that the teardrop guitars they come up with all this garbage they put out nowadays say thing with the fVox Amplifiers they’re too stupid they don’t know how to make anything right anymore

  22. NATH C on August 15, 2020 at 9:02 pm

As nice as it plays, im not sure about this one!

  23. Ron Garza on August 15, 2020 at 9:02 pm

I made a sandwich during the first 4 minutes. Then, I heard the guitar play and it reminded me of my guitar pedals. Big deal. Shutting down after 6 minutes. Nothing new here.

  24. Our Job on August 15, 2020 at 9:03 pm

    sounds like hollow body guitar

  25. Jared Hind on August 15, 2020 at 9:04 pm

That guy has stolen Paul from guitarworld’s scarf!!

  26. James Evans on August 15, 2020 at 9:05 pm

They had to make it the most stupid looking guitar though, Rob doesn’t look comfortable playing it.

  27. Tom Bombadil on August 15, 2020 at 9:06 pm

It sounds incredibly well. I’m most impressed. I don’t think i would try to get it though – not with my amateur range and target style. Still, great way to find out vox makes axes alongside amps.

  28. rblyle382 on August 15, 2020 at 9:07 pm

Am I the only one who likes the look of the body?

  29. Adam7868 on August 15, 2020 at 9:07 pm

Resisting the obvious transformers pun here

  30. The Gay Agenda on August 15, 2020 at 9:10 pm

Shit… How long until more places start to make this cheaply so I can actually get one?

  31. Killa Coiler on August 15, 2020 at 9:11 pm

I am curious though what the difference is between the Starstream Type 1 and the Type 1 Plus as far as the sound banks that are onboard? I am catching this video 3 years after the fact and seen they released some newer models that supposedly have updated sound and different tone wood options. I love that the Stompbox is in the guitar and that you can tweak the effect on the fly. I love Vox amps and should be ashamed for not having heard of this guitar before now.

If you can get your hands on an older release and a more recent Type 1 Plus to do a side by side that would be simply awesome to see if the differences are subtle or truly noticeable.

I am purchasing the Vox Mini Super Beetle and having a vox guitar that has onboard effects to accompany it would be like the perfect studio rig in a sense and that Super Beetle don’t count it out for a great gigging rig for small venues because I ran it through an Orange 4×12 Cabinet yesterday and it can get really loud upon request and not lose the tonal quality. Just curious if I should be searching for the 2018 model Type 1 Plus or if a 2016 model is going to be the same effects just different tone wood?

  32. Vic on August 15, 2020 at 9:11 pm

Not sure about the onboard modeling, but I dig the look. I’d love a standard guitar that looks like that. Something completely different and modern and original. And I love Vox’s headstock. Usually hate most attempts at those.

  33. Andreas Franke on August 15, 2020 at 9:11 pm

Beautifull? Noooo! Fuckin’ ugly! Put this tech in a good looking guitar pleaze!

  34. Dave Hendricks on August 15, 2020 at 9:13 pm

Hey didn’t variax do this already?

  35. KozmykJ on August 15, 2020 at 9:20 pm

The Gain and the Master Volume should be swappable for those Crunch/Drive moves vs the Violining

  36. c Brown on August 15, 2020 at 9:23 pm

How did the hipster burn his tongue?

  37. Debajit Pal Choudhury on August 15, 2020 at 9:23 pm

sounds awesome.. looks ugly … and I have lots of mango trees , but never thought that could be a tone wood…

  38. Donald Harris on August 15, 2020 at 9:23 pm

Wow. Where can I get my hands on one?

  39. realtruenorth on August 15, 2020 at 9:24 pm

    Remember variax?

  40. X DragonxMaster X on August 15, 2020 at 9:26 pm

This guitar is sick Idk why it get so much hate.sounds amazing, looks so unique in my eyes

  41. Matt London on August 15, 2020 at 9:27 pm

Can you upload new sounds into it?

  42. Hans Aaraas on August 15, 2020 at 9:32 pm

    Sounds better than Variax

  43. Craig Guynes on August 15, 2020 at 9:33 pm

With les Paul styling and all these amazing controls configured in a normalish les Paul manner, obviously being more knobs and switches… just configured in a more user friendly way with a more classic look.

  44. Bloodysugar on August 15, 2020 at 9:33 pm

Idea for Vox (great job by the way 🙂 ) :
Make a pickup / electronic kit for guitar makers / modders.
So we can have the guitar we want around it, place pots wherever we want, and you can sell a lot without being bugged by people not liking your design, crying for a shape or an other… win win 🙂

  45. tronlady 1 on August 15, 2020 at 9:33 pm

Why oh why did I get the variax standard? I’m not happy with it. Really dodgy sounding frets higher up and a bit shoddy tbh. Should have have got this beast!!,

  46. Deryk Stearns on August 15, 2020 at 9:33 pm

Tbh from my blown iPhone speakers it sounds like a 200 watt triple rec quad stack in a stadium

  47. TheCheck01 on August 15, 2020 at 9:33 pm

    This guitar is total nonsence

  48. Music Islife on August 15, 2020 at 9:34 pm

Its sooooo damn ugly though! The headstock looks like a childs toy!

  49. WMalven on August 15, 2020 at 9:40 pm

hey, Rob, have you checked out the Boaz One modular guitar? Completely modular (meaning different P/U arrangements, different shapes, around a central core. No digital sampling, just regular guitar functions.
