@lightofsilmaril I have the Technics 1210 M5G which was the top of the line table they made. I recently heard this table in action. No competition, it blows my tech out of the water. In fact I’m considering selling one of my techs to help pay for the cost of this table. There’s a reason why it’s won so many awards.

Bought mine use, and It does require hours of fiddling if it’s not packed real good! Spent HOURS getting the tonearm disassembled in order to re-attach the anti-skating wire to the bottom of the shaft. Does anyone know of a place to get an alignment chart to use to align the cartridge? Would appreciate any direction on setting everything back up, according to factory settings (esp anti-skating). Thx!

How difficult is this to set up with another cart and NOT a clearaudio cart?

  9. sdeary1 on December 5, 2019 at 3:41 am

if u buy an expensive high fidelity cartridge and put it on a cheap player then the cart will pick up on the sound from the motor, the platter may wobble which can slightly distort sound, the machine wont look as pleasant, build quality wont be up to par, the feet on the player wont absorb vibrations which means that turning up your speakers can reduce the sound quality as the base can cause your needle to move about in the groove damaging your record and affecting the sound… i think

@nycpeopleareidiots That’s awesome! My Technics is SL-1200MK2, it’s 25 years old and it still works perfectly. I’m from México, and I only paid 1800 pesos for it, which is about 150 dollars, I think it was a good price considering that it’s now discontinued and the prices have gone high.

Advertising hype aside –& this being the on the ""lowend"" of the high-end Clearaudio line–this has the "Verify" tonearm with "magnetic frictionless bearings," which seems to be totally awesome! A very serious competitor in the price range!
